1 Week Post Op
Hey Everyone:
I have my one week post op appointment with my surgeon today at 1pm. I am really anxious to see how much I have lost. I don't have a scale at home so i haven't been able to weigh. That is probably a good thing as I would have been weighing myself everyday. I am going to try to put off buying a scale but I may not be able to do it, hehe. Since I couldn't weigh myself I took a picture of my face and compared it to one taken the night before surgery. My face looks thinner, not too much but it just doesn't look as puffy, if you know what I mean.
I'll post an update after i get home.

Good luck at your surgeon check-up!
I have a scale at home that I'm able to weigh myself on, but I have forbidden myself from getting on it more than once a week, haha... My first weigh-in, I was down 10 lbs.-- not sure how that's even possible!
Anyway, I definitely see it in my face and neck, too... maybe the weight loss starts at the top and gradually heads south???

I luckily can't get a scale that will weigh me without spending an exhorbitant of money. When I'm down below 350, I will buy a scale. Until then, I'll be weighing in at doctor appointments and at this one scale at the local grocery store when you put a quarter in and it is actually accurate. Last Monday night, it weighed me exactly what I weighed at the doctor's office. I lost 20 lbs. in the first week. I about fell off the scale when I saw it! Yoo hoo! Of course I'm starting from a much higher weight so my initial weight loss will be faster.
Congrats on any first week loss! Good luck at your appointment!

I have a yucky scale at home that weighs different everytime you get on, so I use the one at work to record. I keep telling my hubby that I want the weight watchers scale for christmas, but I know its not under the tree - he doesn't want me to get obsessed with the numbers...smart man.

Martha I can't wait to see how great you have done. I am sure you will be proud of your self. I don't think it would be a bad idea to buy a scale. If you think you might become obessed with it, maybe you can leave it at a friends house or bring to work and use it then. Big smiles you will do fine.

The Answer is...
I lost 8 pounds. My doctor office says any where between 7 to 10 pounds and you are doing well. I know, I know don't compare yourself to anyone else. When in the heck have I ever lost 8 pounds in a week before!
All of my incisions are doing well. The area where my drainage tube looked a little funny to me, Dr. said to use peroxide and keep a band-aid on it.
I can move up to pureed foods this weekend. Question: Does the weekend start on Friday or Saturday? We are having this debate here at home. Anyone want to give me their opinion?

Congrats on the 8 pounds!! Way to go!! As for the question about when does the weekend start... in college it starts after classes on Friday, in your 20's it starts after work on Friday, after you have kids weekend?? what weekend?
Technically I think the weekend begins on Saturday. It might be a better idea to try it on Saturday, just in case things don't sit well, at least that way you will be well rested and not up all night Thats my two cents

Do I really want to be normal?? Having some body issues. Don't want to be too thin.

Oh, definitely make sure you're home, and planning on STAYING home, when you try any new foods. I will only say this-- there's one thing with stinking up a public restroom pre-op, but it's a whole different ball game post-op!! I'm honestly surprised the stench doesn't cause innocent bystanders to pass out!!
As for a scale, I have one of the Weight Watchers ones (ordered it from Target online)... it's not dreadfully reliable (it'll give me 3 different numbers if I get on 3 different times in the span of 2 minutes, all within a pound or so), but it CAN read up to 350 or 380 lbs. I have sworn myself to a pledge of only getting on it ONCE per week, on my weekly "anniversary" day. (Which means I get my Week 2 numbers tomorrow, woo hoo!)
