I dont know about you all, but tonights finale makes me want to get to the gym!! WOW did they all prove that YOU CAN transform a fat body into a good looking one, didnt they? It makes me want to get going !!

I am wondering, (maybe this is common math but too hard to figure out) how do we figure out our percentage of loss.

I started at 217 and have lost 71 so far.. what percentage is this?

Will someone explain the equation so I can continue to figure out as I reach my goal?

Thanks!!

That's a good question Julee I would like to know the answer to that too. At the school that my dad worked at they would often have weight loss contests in the new year and they always figured out the weight loss percentage. Since the women weighed less than the men and men often lose at such a rapid rate this was a fair way of determining the winner. It wasn't just based on total pounds lost.

I just don't know the formula. I could always ask my dad though. Surely there is a mathmatician in the forum that might have the answer.

Hi Tawna!

I am sure someone will know it. If you notice I dont get an answer, and you are still okay with asking your dad, please do!! That would be great!

Thanks

Divide the amount you've lost (71) by what you started at (217) to get the percentage lost: 71/217 = .3271 now move the decimal 2 places to the right and add a percentage sign: 32.71% or nearly 1/3 of your original weight.

THANK YOU.. Now for my 20 more to go so I can get to close to 50%.

Yes, they did look great! Man. I was going to be so bummed if ERic did not win, he actually looked REALLY HOT!! ha.

It definately can be done. I wonder though, I work out every other day on weights and walk the other day 3 times a week set by my trainer. I heard them mention they worked out every day.. I wonder if they too had to alternate to get their muscles ripped like they did.

It was amazing! WOW.

I actually figure it a bit differently. I calculate it as % loss of excess body weight. It is Start weight - Goal Weight=EBW. For me 145 pounds. The percentage is weight loss/excess body weight and multiply by 100=% EBW loss or way to goal.

You are at 77.2% of your way to goal.
BTW...you are doing amazingly well and love the new avitar

I don't really watch it but I had it on because my show comes on after that and I was in such awww over Erik. Well shoot all of them because the all look so amazing. I started to get all teary eyed. It feels good to watch people who were MO or obese and beat the odds and drop the weight. Makes ya want to stand up and salute them. I am ready to tie my baby to my back and hit the gym .

Those people looked amazing! I found myself walking a bit faster on my treadmill this morning because of them! lol! It really does prove that eating right and exercise does work. I've always known it, but never been able to do it. Now, with the surgery, I can finally do it. It's given me the control of my appetite that I've always lacked. With the weight loss, I also have the energy to exercise now..not to mention wanting to tone up the flab! lol!
