Hey girl, the first month+ is really rough. I had open too and didn't get home until 2 weeks after surgery and thought, when I get home, I will feel better. I didn't - I cried cause I couldn't do the normal things and sat around feeling sorry for myself. Its a rough go emotionally - hard to put into words, but you are not alone. We went through it, and for me, so happy now....it does get much better...hang in there!

I was miserable for the first 2 months ... super emotional and would snap at the drop of a hat. My poor husband was a saint for putting up with me... i would have probably run away screaming lol. The first couple months are truely a "mourning period". I didnt THINK i had food issues but got slapped upside the head as soon as i realised i coudnt "cheat" on this one... even with something healthy. Food was well and truely off the table as a coping mechanism.... which is a HARD thing to deal with when its been there for you your whole life. It DOES get better. You learn to be social without food... which i must say was a TOTALLY foriegn concept, and you learn other ways to cope. The sun IS coming hon. In a few months youll be sharing your "man i remember THOSE days" stories with another board buddy in your current position. Promise.
