Question Postop Questions

Just out of curiosity:

I had my surgery November 6th. My 4th week is coming up. So, I thought I would ask some questions to this group since you guys are so great about responding!

Am I always going to have to sip liquids?
Is this irritation of the pouch going to go away with cold liquids?
Some food is irritating especially meat. Does this go away?
Does anyone else's stomach make noises when digesting?

Sorry, if the questions are too much, but just wondered.....

I had my surgery 10/23..and developed a blockage, so had a 2nd surgery 11/6, and then developed a serious case of pneumonia, and am on oxygen still, so, I'm far from "normal" lol..but this is my experience. I think you always have to sip liquids..my friend who is 6 months out still does...I think chugging contests are out for us..lol. I am able to drink liquids w/no problems..as long as it's very cold or very hot. Doesn't bother me. My stomach does cramp once in awhile if I eat too much or too fast, but it goes away once the gas passes. Some people are unable to burp after surgery...I have no problems doing that...so don't have much discomfort. My pouch made lots of noise after the 1st surgery, but since the revision, it doesn't do that...not sure why. The ladies who have had the surgery awhile ago told me that the noises to get better with time. I"m sure someone will be along to respond to you that has more experience/knowledge than me, but hope that helped somewhat.

Am I always going to have to sip liquids? Yes - especially water or propel to keep you hydrated, but your nourishment will eventually be from foods
Is this irritation of the pouch going to go away with cold liquids?Eventually yes - everything should go back to normal, although everyone is different
Some food is irritating especially meat. Does this go away? For the most part, yes...but then again everyone is different and have sensitivities to chicken and meat even years out
Does anyone else's stomach make noises when digesting? All the time..although it is worse at times and other times the pouch is silent, but when it makes noise, everyone around me can hear it!!

Sorry, if the questions are too much, but just wondered.....
Hope this helps

Sipping liquids is something I have heard different things from everyone... I could only drink apple juice for 6 weeks. I am kind of tired of apple juice now. I don't know why but 100% apple juice would stay down water and propel hurt me so bad! I had surgery on 9/7 and now I can drink just about anything, no sugar, no carbonation. I don't have to sip but I work with some who had the surgery a year ago and they have to still sip. I never had problems with meat except NO PORK!!!! My tummy still talks after I eat I hope that goes away soon it does for some and not for others... I have found everyone is different... you just have to wait and see. It's great hearing how others have done!
