sharp pains on left side?
I'm almost 2 weeks post op no problems until now, couple days back did my longest walk yet was gone for nearly an hr, that night attempted to sleep on my left side. Ever since (don't know if its related) but when I stand or lay on the couch leaning to my left im fine but when I get up I get alot of sharp pain its only on my left side towards the back. Anyone else had/having this... its very disconcerning I surely do not want to go back to the hospital it feels like back pain but very sharp and restricts my movement alot. If I lay down on my back and just stay there for a bit and then get up it goes away but slowly comes back. I consulted my doctor, well the nurses station, and they advsd if you cant handle the pain go to the ER but you probably just pulled a muscle or brusied your side from laying that way.
Looking for some encouragement or advice. Love you guys
-cheers.

Any pain that is bothering you to the point of being disruptive to you, as in having to adjust activities or movements to accommodate for it, I would go to the ER. Sounds like it could be muscle related, but a dr. would have to determine that. Only you know if it's something that feels serious or just an annoying soreness. I hope you feel better soon.

It feels like back pain.. I'm not used to feeling it I dont ever get backpain so maybe thats all it is. Im sure hoping thats all it is, I think all that walking 3x a day for 30min each just caused some of it.

I had alot of pains on my left side in the beginning and lasting a couple months. It did go into my back too, felt like pulled muscles or muscle cramps sometimes, Doctor said that is the side they do most of the work, and make a big stitch or something so what I was feeling wasn't uncommon. But if your pain is that bad you ought to get it checked out more throughly. I forget to mention though, that I couldn't even sleep on my side for at least 6 weeks. I slept in a recliner for the first 2 weeks, I was really sore and miserible the first few weeks. When ever I would try to sleep on my sides it would feel like something heavy in there was tugging or something, hard to explain... anyhow.. I hope you get to feeling better.

I had the same pain about two weeks out. I couldnt sleep on my left side w/o having this sharp pain. I did call the doctor and he said they do most of the work on that side and it is very common to have pain there and not to worry. I guess my pain lasted about a week to 10 days and that was that. I must say I was really worried about it too, but all is well.
Good luck to you!

luckily, my mom is a massage therapist and she did some massage on me sat night and more on sunday it helps for a couple hrs but then it comes back. As long as I'm laying on my back (even better with my new heating pad) I'm fine but walking around its sore and the stairs are a killer. It really stinks I have had no problems other than this I sure hope it goes away soon I guess I just pelled something or strained a muscle. I am due back to work in a couple weeks and I sure can't work like this I pray it heals soon.

How did this turn out for you? I am 1 1/2 weeks out. Perfect, no problems whatsoever. All of the sudden I'm having sharp pains in my left side some in the front, some in the back. I had the very same problems with sleeping. I got adventerous and tried to sleep on my side but it did not work out. I'm hoping these things just go away but for now it is restricting some of my movements. I've got cabinets to organize darnit! (yes, I'm getting a little bored at home) Anyway, let me know how it all turned out!
thanks!

I had pains on my left side about that time. My doctor said it is totally normal. He did most of the work on the left side and so more work = more pain. It only hurt when I was laying on that side too.
Hope that helps!
