Default question on getting in liquids...

I'm having a hard time drinking 64 oz...not even close. I think because of the 2 antibiotics I am on....plus the constant oxygen....nothing even tastes good. I pour crystal lite..it sits there all day. I try the sipping thing...but it's so slow. The one thing I do like is popsicles...so I have a few of those...and watermelon seems to quench my thirst...but also makes me go "bad potty"!! Any suggestions?

The only way I can get my fluids in is through hot chocolate. I drink a 16 oz (hot) protein drink in the morning on the way to work. Then I make 16 oz diet swiss miss (1 packet) try to drink another before lunch. Then that means I need 16 oz's from somewhere else for the rest of the day...I do potty ALOT! I just take my behavior problems with me to the office and the others are fine for a couple of minutes. You HAVE to drink...I am still paying my hospital bills for those damn kidney stones!

Ice chips were my life saver those first few days. I love to chrunch on the ice. Keep it by me at all times. I hope it all gets better for you Elaine. Can you have Ensure?

I find it so much easier to get my liquids in when I use a straw. Worth a shot?

A straw did it for me too . I couldn't believe the difference. My surgeon told me not to ever use a straw, but oh well.....Dr. Dyann can do it so can I! LOL

Thanks! I'm going to give it a shot. I did try the no sugar added hot chocolate and it was great. Went down like nothing! I will try the straw today...see if we can get the crystal lite flowing. I think a lot of it is because of the 2 antibiotics I am on. Or the oxygen..My tongue is all weird...nothing tastes right. I feel nauseated, but can eat ok, and not vomit, so that's a good sign! Geez....I can't wait to feel better. Between the blockage and now this pneumonia, I just feel so weak...and sad. The other thing is I had to go off my Effexor. For some reason, I can't take any pills...crushed or otherwise..they make me sick. They tried me on a few, same results, 24 hours of nausea and misery. So, I'm just going to hope for the best and cry a lot until I'm blessed with good health again! I am trying to think positive! It's weird getting used to eating things. I used to just throw stuff down there without a second thought! lol! Thanks for all your help!

I had to drink EVERYTHING warmed up, even my jello. My thing is hot tea with 1-2 splendas in it. I like the cinn/apple or peach. both are really good tasting and it counts for liquids as it is pretty much water-hope this helps you-Dawn
