Bad abdominal pains..
I have been having bouts with bad abdominal pains, off and on for a week now... feels like really bad gas pains.. but kept me up one whole night cramping terribly, all over stomache area, high and low... even had to throw up, and I haven't had to do that in the whole 6 months since surgery.. I was scheduled for a ct scan anyway because of pains in my lower abdominal area a couple days later so am waiting the results... but tonight the pains started again... start low and move all the way up my right side over to the left side under my ribs... Has anyone else had this ?? if so what was it ??? I have been putting heating pad on it to try and get relief... haven't called my surgeon yet, just my PCP. Thanks everyone for any input... I have also tried gas xxx, didn't help... could it be appendix ? I go to the doctor on Thursday.. but I may call tomarrow seeings the pains have started again...

Audean, do you still have your gallbladder? When you said, right-sided pain that's the first thing I thought of.

I know I haven't posted much on here in a while, but school this semester is keeping me super busy. I saw your post and had to reply to it. I have been experiencing the something. I have tried to play it off for a while, but it has progressively gotten worse. I get the pains and they last for abut an hour to 2 hrs, sometimes waking me up in the night. I had an endoscopy before school started in Sept. and nothing was found. I have been dealing with the pain by taking Tylenol, but I'm at the point where it barley helps. I have found that lying down relieves it a little than when I stand up (hunched over). I usually just lie down with a heat pack and wait for it to pass. The surgeon wanted to see me, but because of my hard courses this semester it has been difficult to go home to Boston. I have an appointment for a barium swallow when i go home for thanksgiving. I was starting to think that maybe this had nothing to do with my gastric bypass, but recently it has gotten harder at some points to eat solid foods, with out it first feel as if it is getting stuck. Also not to be too graphic but i am also having very watery BM with not a lot of substance when i do go. I feel that i am eating enough food with substance that the BM should be a little more than what it is. I think they were questioning a small obstruction, but i think its a bit of an over reaction and that my pain would be a lot worse. I am interested to see what your results are. good luck!

I'm sorry to hear you all are having this pain. I hope you find answers soon!
Ashley, just wanted to say hello to a fellow Mass. stapler! Is there a hospital near your college you can go to for the tests? The results can be forwarded to your surgeon to evaluate. This might be a good idea instead of waiting?!?

I would def have gone for the testing here in CT, but there is something with Mass general doctors thinking they are better than anyone else. My surgeon feels that it is better to have the test done there so he can watch the actual barium swallow. I have an appointment scheduled a week from this coming Tuesday, so well see what happens. Ill keep you posted, it was just interesting to see someone else had this same thing happening to them. hopefully it'll be nothing and they can fix the pain so I can move on. On a different note, Duckie. You work at a hospital in Worcester right? I am applying to mass school of health (Worcester campus) for nursing when I graduate this year. Have you heard anything about the program? Thanks so much for your care and concern!

Sorry to hear you are feeling badly also... I did have my CT scan -- and my PCP is having me see a surgeon here locally as my GB doctor is over 100 miles away. But I do see my GB surgeon next Friday for my 6 month chk up and going to talk to him also.. The ct scan showed a moderate amount of free fluid in the lower right hand pelvic area, where I start out with the most pain. And knowing tht I have had a complete hysterectomy, it couldn't be female. I am not sure if I still have my appendix or not.. but I go to the Surgeon here locally on Monday morning. I hope the pain will stay away till I can have it taken care of.. I am afraid something will burst. I hope that my GB surgeon in Vegas will want to handle this problem for me, as I am afraid to let anyone else scope me not being as familiar with Gastric bypass. I do have issues with bloating and pain in my upper area of my abdomen also. I will be curious to know what they find with you, and hope that it isn't anything serious. It gets tiresome worrying about wether you are going to be in pain or not though... sometimes the little pains move right into the horrible ones.
