Default !st Post Op Post - Yippeeeee!

Had my surgery Friday, 10/27, came home last night 10/30. What an experience, probably what the average WLS patient goes through, couple days of IV fluids, lots & lots of nurses poking at me to check vitals & blood sugar levels, & walking the halls...I forgot how busy & noisy hospitals can be!!

Thanks to my surgery buddy, Lisa L., who had surgery right after me, Dr. Callery, & our rooms were right down the hall from each other, so we were able to chat & compare notes. What a blessing that has turned out to be, I have met a new friend & we have already chatted on the phone a lot!

Thanks to all of my forum friends, you have been the ones to help me prep for this, get through the insurance process & the surgery. Now I get to rely on you to help with the post op experience, and I know how helpful & wonderful you all are.

Feeling great, doing lots of walking (about a block - 8 to10 house-fronts per day in a suburban area), 4 to 8 times per day. Will have first post op dr. visit on Thursday, looking forward to that, just to see if I am doing OK.

No questions yet, just wanted to do my first post on the post-op side, and thank you all for your wonderful support. YOU GUYS ROCK!

ann

So glad you are home and doing well. I had my surgery last Monday and am doing great as well. I was lucky to only have to stay 1 night in the hospital. It was so noisy there....woke up every 30 mins! It was so nice to sleep in my own bed and not have vitals taken every couple hours! lol! I'm still getting used to the diet changes..but it's going very well. I've been doing the walking & drinking & getting in about 60grams of protein a day. I go for my post-op appt tomorrow. I was going to go back to work on Wednesday, but have decided to take a full 2 weeks off. I'll go back next Monday. Take care of yourself and keep us posted!
