Default Thrift Stores

Hey all in the San Diego area, I'm looking for a few good thrift stores to browse for work type clothes. I've been to the Goodwill store downtown and was disappointed. Could have been because I only had 5 minutes to look before they closed, but. . .meh. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to where a good place to go would be.

Default Thrift Stores

Sorry I don't know where any are but in a city this size there should be some good ones. Maybe check the phone book?

I know for sure that Donna knows this answer, but is still in the hospital....I bet Dale or Marie might know. PM them if they miss your thread.

I know of places here in Escondido if you want to know. I also know where to get smaller junior size clothes that are in good shape.

There is a huge AM VETS in Escondido on Valley Parkway as you go way past Palomar Hospital toward Valley Center...my Mom loved it because it was soooo big..lots to go through.

I likePlato's Closet because there stuff is pretty clean and they take stuff that has been gently used...small clothes. They are here in the Promenade center by my house by Target and Mervyn's....right next to Payless Shoes and close to Applebees.

I hope you find a good place. I know Bridget and Donna know where there are good ones down there in your area...also Bridget used to talk of a $5 store..we have one in Esco in the same area as AM vets and it is really cool. I sometimes find a lot and other times don't, so you do have to go more than once.

Thumbs up AMVETS El Cajon

That is where I've been spending my $$. Just Saturday I got 3 pair of work slacks, 2 jeans, 2 shorts & 8 shirts for $45...
There are aobut 15 thrift shops on Main St in El Cajon. No all are good on the prices, but AMVETS have 1/2 off sales on Thursdays & Saturdays.
My daughter gets her clothes there all the time too.

SALVATION ARMY & BOUTIQUE - This used to be a well-kept thrift where fairly good quality items could be found. No longer. Default Hey Jen

The AmVets in ElCajon is the best one I found for clothes. They also have good prices and good quality. All the Salvation Armys did not have much selection. Look in the phone book for consignment stores. They usually have good qualitiy as well.

My favorite is DAV thrift store in Spring Valley. Right off Jamacha Rd next to the bug Red T. You get SUITS for 5-10, thats where I get all my Ann Taylor, Jones New York and DKNY stuff!

Default Thrift Stores

I have been very happy with the American Cancer Society Discovery Shops, as they only sell top quality. They are a little more money than the usual thrift stores, but they sell top brand suits and dressy office clothes, shoes, and bags. They will not accept damaged clothes, so it is all in good shape. I do well at Goodwill, but you have to keep going back and digging.

I have also done really well on ebay with good suits. I just bought at Talbots wool blazer for $9, including shipping. It is near new and gorgeous. Right now there is also a lady selling off her excess stuff at the Santee Swapmeet on Sundays, she has a ton of stuff, suits, etc, in sizes 2-14. 80% of her stuff still has the store tags on it. I got some incredible items from her, and she apparently still has more. You can't miss her, she has 4 huge racks of clothing.

There is a place in the sports arena area near the old main post office that has good resale clothes in large sizes, and there is a great resale shop in the Rancho San Diego Dixieline Shopping Center, really good quality.

It sure is fun to shop when you can buy it at the thrift stores. I am also grateful that my 3 boys love the thrift store and swap meets too!

Happy Shopping!!
