Hello, I am almost 4 years out. I have recently gaines 23lbs. I am so frustrated re weight gain.I contribute alot to my new job. Sitting in a cubicle on phone & computer.
I tend to eat all day , grazing being able to tolerated more food without the fullness feeling or pain.I orginally lost 185 lbs in one year and have maintained since. I was too thin 1 year out. 146 lbs. Didnt look well. So 10 lbs was nice but it keeps going up. I started this week no carbs & increase exercize.

Cool post op over 1 year out

I am 2 years and 5 months out and I do indeed feel more hunger now than during my honeymoon period after surgery. I don't always do good, but I always remember where I was before the surgery. I do tend to snack now, but when I do I really do try to make a wise or healthy choice, but I am not always successful. But, as I have heard most people say it terrifies me to think that I could regain my weight. I am going to do every thing in my power not to gain it back. I originally got down from 284lbs. to 129lbs., but I am now at 139lbs., and that is okay, I just need to maintain it. I certainly can not afford to buy any new clothes, so I have to be able to fit into my size 8's, since that is the only size that I have in my wardrobe.
I did participate in a support group right after surgery but stopped going about 6 months out, but in the past couple of months, I realized that I do need the support, and to feel useful by giving support to others. I feel better and more confident about maintaining now that I am a part of a support system again.
I guess we all have to realize that we have to take ownership of our future by working the tool that we have been given. I know for sure that I am doing my best to work mine to the best of my ability.
Does anyone out there know post ops that drink with their meals and are also drinking carbonated drinks? I have always been told by my surgeon and my nutritionist that those two things are BIG NO NOS. The ones that do this do not seem to have gained any weight back, but I am really afraid to do it myself.

I am 10+ months out, and hopefully I qualify to be able to post in response to this excellent question/thought/comment.

I don't think RNY is a magic bullet. What is magical IS that we got a good head start, had a honeymoon period to acquire good eating habits for the future, and got our heads on straight.

When the hunger returns, it returns, and that's when CHOICES come into play. At this point, for me, it's all about choices. I am definitely hungry for what I eat, and I could eat more if I allowed myself to do that. But I will not gain any back, and am in that zone where I exercise, eat well, and hope that I continue to have the strength to do that.

Coming here for my kick in the butt helps a LOT!!!
