Question Question for the ladies.

Of course, the guys can look but I don't think you'd have MUCH to say about it

I'm 2 weeks and 4 days away from surgery and so far I find that the only thing that makes me feel better and calms my nerves is preparing for when I'm post op. Somehow "thinking" that I'm somewhat in control relaxes me.

One of the things I've been looking into is birth control(there was another post somewhere about BC but I couldn't find it). I've looked into the shot, the patch, the pill and I just saw an ad for something called Nuvaring(or something like that...). A friend of mine used the patch and said it was crap, someone else tried the shot and said it made her feel like crap and made her retain all this water weight. I don't know about the pill since we were told that "pills" won't have the same effect on us after the surgery. So since I don't know anyone that has used the ring or have heard anything negative about it I'm kind of leaning towards getting it for after the surgery.

I know I was told that after surgery(with the rapid weight loss) we have a bigger chance of getting pregnant. That's pretty much why I'm looking into these birth control methods(as extra support because HE will always wrap it up ). I was also told that we should wait sometime after surgery before using any BC, but I forgot how long...does anyone remember? Did anyone experience any type of weight gain while using any of the previously mentioned BC(I read that the pill and the ring have "slight weight gain" as a "side effect")?

all BC methods that release hormones are going to have some kind of fluid retention side effect but nothing horrible! I got the shot last month and am switching to an IUD next month with my next Pap. I took pills and spotted forever after surgery. DAILY! SOmeone here has tried the ring. I can't remember who though. I think it would be hard getting it into the proper position.

Default I LOVE the NuvaRing

I have been on the NuvaRing for about 3 months now, LOVE IT! It is easy, no side effects, you dont even know it is there. You can take it out and put in the new one after your certain amount of days and you will not get a period if you choose. I would strongly encourage anyone out there wondering what to pick for BC, to look into the ring and see if it right for you. I know I would not pick anything else at this point! I have no complaints and love not having to do anything really other than once a month. I tried the patch before, yuck that is a pain!

There is no problem getting it inserted, as I was worried about that too.. Without getting to detailed, you just use a tampon inserter and it goes right where it is suppose to! lol.

Hope this helps.. message me if you have more questions!

I have used the ring...I liked it but went back to the pill....funny thing...you have to keep it in the fridge(cool place) and my son opened it a wore it as a braclet!!!! Another thing is it's expensive..even with my awesome insurance. It's $50 bucks a month.*IMO that's expensive..but I think kids are more expensive

I use the pill, never have had any problems......I used to get the depo shot years ago....major mistake....sick, cramps, steady bleeding...awful...at first it was good, I had recommended it to several people because of the ease of it, but it turned on me...this one gal that got it after I talked her into it....was bleeding...I kid you not...8 weeks straight!!!!!!!!!!.....when I was having problems I went to a different gynocologist, he told me that he will not give the shot to any of his patients...if they want it they have to go elsewhere....told me that it was invented for mental patients, because I guess there is alot of rapes in mental hospitals, so to prevent any pregnancys in the mentally ill the shot was created for them...not sure if it has some special other drug in there besides birth control....He is totally against it...and it really messed me up, along with several other people I know of....would never do it again!!!

Thanks a lot for your help guys(girls)!

Julee Dee _ I tried sending you a private message earlier today but my computer won't let me. I had a few questions about Nuvaring, which I'm really interested in.

Vanessa _ Wow, that's horrible(in a funny way) what your son did with the ring. $50 sounds a tad bit pricey I must agree, how much do the pills run you?

Tagybail _ I didn't know about the shot being created for the mentally ill, but it makes sense. I have heard a few "horror" stories about the shot, so as convenient as it might come across as, I don't think I'd go with it.
