Default 1 Month Out

Well, I just passed my one month anniversary. Hasn't been that bad, just trying to figure out what I can eat still and learning that if my tummy feels like it can't handle food then not to eat! I seem to skip dinner 2 or 3 times a week cause of this. Oh well, I can afford it!

The weekend wasn't that good though in one way. I was in a car accident back the end of January, hit from behind, and I rammed my left leg into the emergency brake. Five days later I had a raging case of cellulitis, which is a very, very nasty skin infection. Cure? Massive doses of antibiotic AND you either get an IV shunt and go to Urgent Care 3 times a day for a shot, or you can go once a day and get a nasty shot in the arse. I chose the arse. Well, it cleared up though the leg stayed red. Last weekend I rammed the leg into the leg of an antique rocking chair I have. Saturday the cellulitis came back. So, I am on massive doses of Keflex AND going in daily for the Rosecephin, the antibiotic in the arse, shots. My first trip in was Sunday morning, they weighed me and I was down another 5 pounds according to their scale. NICE. Monday the Keflex has my tummy so upset that the only thing I can keep down is jello and Propel. I go in for my shot and I am down 4 pounds in one day. 4 POUNDS??? Today I go in yet again and I am down another pound! That is 10 pounds in a week. Now I know their scale and Dr. Callery's may be off some, but I think the last 5 pounds I can believe as it was over a 3-day period on the same scale. If I lost all 10 pounds though I am down 45 pounds in 1 month and 4 days! WOO HOO!!

Oh yes, tummy better today. Managed breakfast and lunch. Dinner well, let's not go there!

Tricia,
I am sorry to hear that you are going thru a rough time....how long do you have to do the shot thing? Congrats on the weight loss though. It's amazing how fast it comes off isn't it? I hope that you are doing better, WLS is tough enough without adding other factors. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Arrow Oh Tricia

I'll be praying for you. Pam is right, WLS is hard enough by itself. I hope you are feeling better and congrats on the 45lbs. You are doing great!
Don't want to bother you in your time of agony, but if you could answer a question for me it would be great.

I'm also having a hard time figuring out what I can and can't have, and I'm tired of the pain. What are you tolerating at this stage?

Have A Blessed Day

Well, I could eat yesterday. Today is a bust! Oh well, I kinda like jello! I have to have the shots in the arse till the leg clears up. Last time that was 6 days, this time, well, who knows? Thanks everyone for your good wishes, I am doing good even with the leg and I am ecstatic with the weight loss!! It is amazing!!!

Mary, what can I eat? Well, I will preface this by saying that what I can eat one day is not necessarily what I can eat the next day. I can tolerate scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, deviled ham, chicken salad, tuna salad (though this one is iffy at times), chili, refried beans, chicken, lean ham, hamburger meat (but it better be lean!), shrimp, shrimp alfredo, polish sausage (yeah, that is a weird one and I can only eat about 3 bites), popcorn shrimp, popcorn chicken, and peanut butter crackers. Those are my comfort food in a way. If I don't think my tummy will handle anything else, it will usually handle those. Oh yeah, cheese crackers (the premade ones). The processed cheese must not really be cheese, cause I can handle them! Oh yeah, the lean ham? I had that in a cheese-less omelet. I can't handle anything with lactose now, so no pudding, no cheese, no yogurt. As for drinks, I can drink Crystal Light, Propel, and Snapple diet, though I haven't found many Snapples I really enjoy yet. I also have a water with juice drink available out here that is sweetened with Splenda that I can tolerate, but my body doesn't want it lately. I can drink mine cold, so I am a lucky one! Hope this helps Mary!

Question Tricia

Thank you! It does help a lot! How are you feeling today? I hope and pray that you feel better. I haven't had an ache today so far. I hope it stays that way.

How do you tell what you can and cannot tolerate? What happens when you cannot tolerate something? Thanks for answering my questions. They are truly a great help.

Mary,

Doing much better. Hoping that I can stop the nasty daily shots today. Okay, so I am PRAYING for it!! Hope your aches are gone too.

How do I know I can't tolerate something. Well, sometimes it gets in your mouth and tastes just way too sweet (even if there is no sugar in it). Other times I get a LOT of gas after eating a bite or two, the gas gets worse and more frequent, then I race to the bathroom. On new foods I only eat one or two bites (small), then sit and wait for a few minutes to see how I tolerate it. I don't get gas much unless I am not tolerating the food. Hope this helps!!
