Question Plastic Surgery

I was just wondering if many of you had to have plastic surgery due to your weight loss....this is one of my many concerns....and if so..does insurance cover this or is it self pay ?

Default yes

My wife had the surgery on 5-23-02. She is going in for a TT on the 16th. Insurance is covering it because her doctor wrote to the insurance company stating that it was a medical necessity. They approved it. They are covering 80% of it. The doctor also told her that he could get a breast lift approved down the road if she wants it. Just be sure and mention to your doctor (PCP) that you are getting rashes under the loose skin. That helps in the approval process.

Thanks so much.. I appreciate your reply....and best of luck to your wife.
So as long as it is a "medical necessity" it will be covered, that is great to know...

I had a tummy tuck and thig lift on 11/3/04 after losing 112 pounds. Alot of lovely folks on here were blessed enough to have their skin snap back, I wasnt one of them. My insurance covered it as well Yippeee!

Wink tummy tuck

I had the open 4/1/03
I had a tummy tuck on 8/27/04 and paid for it out of my own pocket, well with credit cards, are they great for some things. what I heard was that you have to document the rashes from the beginning for insurance to pay. when I mentioned this to the Dr. that Kelly recommended he said no, Insurance will not pay.
I chose not to go to him, he was $8500.00
I only lost 70 lbs from the gastic, but my stomach was big.
because I had the open the plastic surgeon had to be careful of pulling the muscle down, so he had to start from where my scar ended. he made me a new belly button which comes down a 1/4 from my scar. I am still healing and have to wear a girdle. I just started walking again this weekend, well sat. was my first day, then sunday it rained.
I have no stomach, just a scar from hip to hip, but no one sees anyway.

Default Insurance covering cost?

For those of you whose insurance covered the cost of PS, which insurance do you have? Same question for those who had PS and their insurance didn't cover it!

Thanks!

Have an appointment for my therapy consult that Kelley suggested on 11/19 and still need to set up an appointment with m PCP to give him the list of test that Kelley gave me during my consult! Wish me luck!

Default tummy tuck

makemusic,

Ins. did not pay for my TT, I paid for the tummy tuck from my own money.
$6500, which I thought was very reasonable. the dr that performed my TT is very nice and he was just in OCT. San Diego Mag. for best doctors.
