I know the fatigue is normal....not so sure about the chest pain. Just to be safe put a call into your surgeon, it can't hurt!

What sort of chest pain? I had some shortness of breath and tightness in my chest untill I got used to exercising. You get over that pretty quick.

You'll feel fatigued until you get your metabolism up and working again. Right now I'm a bundle of energy. Not quite twitchy but certainly full of pep.

I would agree with Cindy. I think you should call your doctor. That is what they WANT us to do if we have ANY concerns. The fatigue is completely normal, you just had major surgery but I would be a bit more concerned about the chest pain. My first thought that came into my head is a pulmonary embolis. That's NOT something to wait and see about. It is something quite serious. Usually you would have the chest pain more constant with a pulmonary embolis and it would hurt when you took a deep breath but since blood clots can occasionally go hand in hand with the surgery CALL! Please....

The chest pain isnt there all the time. It only comes after walking for a bit or going up stairs.

I think we all will agree about the fatigue being normal, but please get that call into the doctor, something like that it is much better to play it safe and get it checked out.

Chuck, I still would call the doctor. What would it hurt? Like I said, the doctors want us to call. The worst thing he could say is for you to come in and get it checked out! I'm a nurse and I really don't think the chest pain is normal. The likely hood of it being a pulmonary embolis may be low but listen I know someone who died from one and almost lost a friend to one. You shouldn't play around with chest pain of any sort.
