Default So, have any of you tried a diet soda???

I was at a food court today with my kids. I had this overwhelming urge to have a soda. I wanted it so bad I could taste it! So, knowing I can't ever go back to regular soda (that was my one biggest down fall prior to surgery ) I figured I would try a diet Dr. Pepper. Wow, was that a mistake !!!!! Two sips into it, I was in so much pain. I felt like my little 'ol pouch was going to come up through my throat. OUCH!!! I didn't even enjoy the bubbly texture anymore. What a bummer! Sort of, atleast I wont want soda anymore, I hope . That is the one thing from "before" that I just really miss. I haven't mourned the loss of anything other than that.

Default Sodaholic

Yup, I'm a sodaholic; diet soda. My surgeon said it was perfectly fine to drink (Goddess bless her!) I have my wild cherry diet pepsi everyday. If I had to give it up, I might as well dig a hole and jump in it. I can't gulp it like before, but it doesn't hurt my gut when I sip on it. I still try to limit myself somewhat and increase my water. I do love the water with the new Crystal Light individual pouch thingies.

Default Idrink Diet coke

I drink it, but don't depend on it like I used to. Once in awhile it is nice to have a good burp...in a good way.

I never was big on it, but I often times took a sip of my husbands, but if I do that now I can't eat anything else. If I eat first I can not get the soda down it just sits up on top.

I do not even drink water during a meal, I think it helps with not ovr eating!

I tried one sip once and it wasn't a pleasent experience. I felt all this pressure coming right back up my throat. I could hardly catch a breath. I never was a huge soda drinker before but this made me not want to have one again.

I used to drink diet soda all the time, but I had a sip of the wrong cup one day and OMG, it felt like a hole was being burned in my pouch immediately. Never again!!

I have had a diet drink here and there - maybe 5 or 6 since January - no problems right away but gas afterwards. A gurgling tummy and not worth the taste of soda. I still prefer the Crystal Lite Orange packets that I put in my bottle of water - and watered down OJ, and milk every few days.

Also, the same thing with beer - I am allowed beer in moderation, if I go out with friends - I will drink 2 over the course of 3-4 hours, for instance - I never get drunk, but the gurgling tummy is annoying.
