Default diet soda

I will drink a diet soda every once in awhile...usually when I'm having a craving for something sweet half a can of Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Cherry Vanilla Coke will cure it. I don't drink it regularly though.

I like carbonation so I've been experimenting with Italian Sodas... I just get some soda water and sugar free syrup...yummy!

I don't count it as part of my daily liquid consumed though...I still make myself drink all of my water and crystal lite...I consider it more of a treat (food) then a liquid.

You are absolutely right that the phosphorus issue is with anyone who drinks soda. What I was driving at is with GBP surgery, you are prone to osteoporosis due to poor absorption of calcium from the diet as well as loss of body mass. Being obese was actually protective to bone density. I don't know about your MD, but we have to get a bone densitometry done every 6 months for the first two years and then annually there after. So my point was we are at an even higher risk then the general population because of the surgery.

I admire your honesty in the response about drinking it a little less.
We all have our vices as I am drinking 36 ounces of decaf coffee.
