feeling at war
I have been on a plateau for 6 weeks now. I did fine the first 4 weeks telling myself that is will pass. I am not buying that anymore. I am 7.5 months out and I dont want this to be the end. I still need to lose at least 60 more pounds. I am doing what I am supposed to (I.E. I am defying the laws of nature) I am becoming frustrated, anxious, rebellious and generally out of sorts. I feel like my body hates me, and frankly at this point I don't like it very much either.
I can't see that the inches are falling off either, so that isnt going to fly. I seriously don't know of anything that is mentally stopping me either. I am just falling into a depression at this point.

Hi Gina
I am 6 months out and I feel the same way you feel!! I dont go to the gym as much but I really do watch what i eat!! I think I eat late at night but people told me it should not matter! The way I keep myself from getting depressed is Look at the overall! You have lost over 100lbs and you obviously something right to lose that weight! I would just keep it up and have faith because now that you have lost most of the weight it is all up to you now!!
Keep your head up!!

Gina I am apologize you are feeling so down about your weight loss. Is there any support groups that you can attend to vent some of your fustrations. Gina I know this will not make you feel better but this is a tool you have your whole life to work with. There is no expiration date on using this tool. You also have to realize you are out of the honeymoon period and your weight will slow down a lot. Sticking to your protein and water is the best thing to do at this point. Are you working out? Gina take it one day at a time. I know it doesn't seem hopeful now because you are in the storm but it will get better.

Gina,
Know that we feel your frustration. The honeymoon may be over, but in the last 7 1/2 months you have built a marriage that will last you a lifetime. You will have ups and downs, but if you always go back to the basics of what is important to make it work, it will work. For those of us who like to be in control (like me), it is so hard to relinquish it to our body. Stay strong to avoid falling into old ways and know that it will work. You have lost a tremendous amount of weight in a short period of time. The party isn't over until you say it is over.

My awesome trainer
You know you were just comforting me about his - but since then I started working with my trainer who is amazing. He says when you plateau, you need to really change your routine. Do you lift weights at all? He also told me that if I want to take off the weight, I need to focus on lower body - bigger muscles, which I've started doing, and I'm already losing. When you do strength training you burn calories for many hours after you finish, with cardio it is only like, 30 minutes. So - whatever you are doing - change it around and things should start moving.
He also told me that 100 grams of protein a day with working out is perfect.
Your body has adjusted - you need to throw it a curve ball!
You will overcome!!

Yep that is when it became really hard for me too. After the 6 month mark my weight loss stoped and I really had to work at it to keep the numbers falling. Try writing down what you eat and how many cal are in it. Sometimes you think you are doing well and then when you see it in black and white you relize that you could make some changes. That always kick starts my weightloss again. Good luck

Gina...i hear ya girl...your post sounds like I WROTE IT. I live a stall or plateau every month...I sit now on over 2 weeks with nothing. I only weigh in every 2 weeks to keep myself sane! I am just a little behind you and I know how you feel about wondering if it is over. I keep telling myself that if its gonna happen, it will...just keep doing what I have been. I know I have to work out harder now than earlier on as I am getting more fit. Food is just food...no big deal.
Hang in there....we will get through this!!

I slowed down then too....it just seems to be when the ole body wants to stop and figure out what in he** is going on! One thing I think helps break a plateau is to boost your calories, then go back to what you were doing. Not saying to overeat or eat unhealthy, but you can eat more cheese or nuts or avocado......things we know are healthy but normally try to limit. Also kicking exercise up sent me to losing 10 pounds in about 6 weeks at 10-11 months out and within 10 lbs of goal, so that's a lot given that scenario. Either way, try not to get frustrated. If you are following the rules it WILL come off.....those are just ideas to jumpstart you. You are doing fantastic.
My months
1-24 lbs
2-20 lbs
3-7 lbs
4-8 lbs
5-9 lbs
6-2 lbs
7-4 lbs
8-7 lbs
9-5 lbs
10-3 lbs
11-5 lbs

Thanks for all who answered. The thing is that doing the math there is no reason that I am not losing. I eat 800-1000 cals a day. I still weigh 250. I exercise.
So doing the math here... at rest my body burns ROUGHLY 2500 cal a day JUST existing... that is not incuding the exercise. So I am banking 1500 a day.... a pound is worth about 3500 cals right so I havent lost a pound in 6 weeks...
Anyone have an anwer to THAT?

Building muscle? Muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space. Are you staying stable weight wise but still losing size? If so I'd say that's a likely culprit.
And are you sure about that 2500 calorie thing? I hadn't heard that.
