Default Oh my gosh...

Ok so as I have said before.. I was self pay. I saved up for a year to pay for this operation. I was told how much for everything down to the cent.. I paid 24,500.00 and that was putting aside every thing I could for a year ..
So today I get a bill from the hospital.. saying that on top of the 24k.. I own them 55 thousand dollars... WHAT?? How can this be?? I got 3 pages of everything they did to me that cost extra.. the day extra in ICU the hour longer then they thought in the operation room... shots, nurse care, blood work.. FIFTY FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!! so.. thats almost 80k for this operation? I dont know what to do. I am going to call them in the morning and talk to someone.. but if I have to pay this, I mean there is no way .... have any of you guys been self pay? Did you get extra bills? Any advice?

WOW !! That's outragous !!

I wasn't self pay, put was in the ICU for 3 days and in the hospital for 2 weeks due to complications with a Leak and lung problems.

The copies of the bill that I have seen everything was just under 40,000.

Make sure you document all of your conversations with them and include names / dates / outcome of those conversations. You may need them later on down the road.

Good luck with this battle, hope they find a few mistakes to bring that total down.

I was self pay. I was in the hospital for an extra day, had extra medication and monitoring. I got a bill in error. They didn't credit my account my payment and that is what the non contract self pay rate was if you broke it down item by item. After they realized I had paid the established rate pre op, the rest was written off. Good luck!!!
