Default Ok, just to make sure...

I know you guys are sick of me asking about water as I have asked in two other threads .. BUT.. before I call the doctor I just want to ask again and maybe make myself more clear, as I am self pay in all of this and I would rather not go if its not needed.

Drinking..
I can do a sip like every 3 mins, 4 mins with little discomfort but if I drink 2 or 3 sips in a row or within a min I get major cramping. What is normally here? How can I get in all the water I need when I can only sip a baby amount every 5 mins..
I know I am not getting enough water in as im lightheaded.. sometimes blurry vision.

Eating..
I havent been that good on eatting as I am not hungry at all so I have to force myself.. but I have some pains after I have eatten a few bites.. it almost feels like I have taken a laxative and my tummy feels all yucky, its not pain as in with drinking but its not comfortable at all. Is this normal?

Walking..
I am 3 weeks out today .. have been home for 2 weeks now and I am wondering how much walking you guys were doing at this point. I still have a lot of pain when I walk.. gah I sound like a baby lol. But I am trying to get a feel as to where I should be.

Other then that I am ok.. I am down 32 lbs in 3 weeks and I havent really done much of anything.. I just need to improve on water intake.. protein and walking. Any advice or input will be great!

Thank guys for always being here to answer

Were you open or lap? If you are having a lot of pain when walking at 3 weeks I would recommend wearing your binder.

If there was one thing I would do differently post GBS would be to wear my binder more faithfully and for a longer period of time than I did. I honestly believe it would have saved me from hernia surgery last year during which they found one large one and 6-8 smaller ones. Then when I had my p/s 2 1/2weeks ago they found another hernia that he repaired while he was in there.

For the water thing, I had trouble getting mine in, until I decided to try sipping it out of a toddler cup. Get the no spill kind and go from there. I grabbed one of my neice's cups and it worked great. Now I can drink water like I used to pre-op so eventually it does get better.

The "binder" is like a big ACE bandage that you wear around your waist - it's about 12 inches wide, and wraps around your tummy to give you support.

At three weeks out I was eating the way you described...just a few bites of very soft food. Water I was sipping at about 3 ounces an hours and with waiting after eating etc. was only able to get 35-40 ounces in a good day. It will come. I think I didn't hit 60 ounces until 5-6 weeks post op. A binder does help tremendously with comfort. You sound like you are doing great and it will improve dramatically each day. Hang in there.
