Default am I out of the woods?

Ok - im kinda like a worry wart and Im just wondering how long it will be before I can stop worrying about complications... never right? ha ha - I feel fabulous and besides being hungry all the time... and wanting to kill everyone I see eating normally.... I feel almost normal. I am eager to get back to the gym but have to wait to swim for a while cause of my incisions... just wondering - anyone know how long I will have to wait to start lifting weights again? and does physical activity too early increase the chance of bowel kinking or anything? I so want no complications - just like everyone else... so if anyone has anything to offer... please - YOU guys (who are all mostly DR C patients?) ROCK!!!

ur new pal,

As far as the gym goes, take it easy at first. If you feel up to it, go walking on the treadmill. Don't over do it though. As far as lifting weights, that all depends on you. Basically Dr. Callery says if it hurts, don't do it. So I stick to that rule. I am 7 months out and can do about anything now. I still have some residual pain in my incision site, but it is more annoying than painful. I know you are anxious, but remember you just had major surgery. Get plenty of rest as well. It will help you heal faster. Get on the treadmill but I would not do anything else for at least 4 weeks. Thats just my 2 cents.

Good luck to you!!!

Default Walking, Walking, Walking...

Dr. C/Kelly recommend us to walk at least for 30 minutes every day. One week post op, we were instructed to walk every two/three hours to prevent blood clots. After two weeks, every day for 30 minutes. Like Christina said, I'd wait until 4 weeks out then try weight lifting. You really need to remember you've just gone through major surgery. It's hard to remember when you're feeling better and stronger. Take good care of yourself!

Cool Marcy

Girl, you are on a roll. I'm two days behind you and can't even look at my treadmill with thoughts of getting on it yet. Great Recovery!!! I would say that the girls gave some great advice though. Although you feel well and are healed on the outside, your body still has to heal completely on the inside.

I too am looking to take advantage of this opportunity to work out and lose as much as possible in this stage, but you have got to listen to your body. You haven't had any complications yet, don't make any for yourself.

Thanks Kim for that schedule. My doctor didn't give me one, but I will use the one you posted here starting Monday. That will give me 10 day post-op and I'm hoping I will feel a lot better by then.
