Default Too much? Too little? Good? Bad?

I need some thoughts on what I am eating. I know I should make an appointment with the nutritionist, but I haven't yet. Here is what I had today so far:

2 tbs scrambled egg with about 1/2 oz shredded cheese
16 oz water
8 oz tropicana orange aid (SF of course)
1/4 cup Salisbury Steak (ok, it's just ground sirlion baked in beef broth and mushed up with my fork)
about 6 slices of potato I had baked with my 'Steak'

I walked for about 30 minutes (we are in a heat wave here and the temp is over 100, so I can only do about 30 minutes at a time)

I will most likely have 1/4 to a 1/2 cup of chili with a little cheese on top and then before bed I usually have about 4 oz of milk (for a protien bonus)

I had lap surgery on June 22.

Thanks!
Jennifer

You are doing great and will increase your protein intake over the next month or two. Shoot for at least 50 -60g of protein and more is better. For me, getting in the fluids was the hardest part. It is so important really try between meals to get in at least your 60 ounces. Some studies have shown that those who get in their fluids and more protein (upwards of 80-100g/day) experience a greater weight loss. These are all goals and not achieved on a daily basis. You are doing great with a nice variety. Low fat string cheese is an easy way to get 9g more of protein in.

What you are eating sounds completely reasonable to me, and according to guidlines my nutritionist gave me. Just be sure that you are getting your protein amounts in, at least 60gms. That is the most important thing right now! Also with the heat, be careful to not get dehydrated, drink that water. Sip,sip, sip. Keep up the good work.

Default Drinking

I am finally able to drink water (Fred has not cared for water until about a week ago) so I have a 16oz bottle I keep filling up. I get about 5 in a day. Then I also have my 8 oz glasses of orange drink as a 'treat' and my milk. Sometimes a 4 oz glass of tomato juice. I just look at what I'm eating and was begining to think I was eating too much. I get worried I'm going to ruin everything by overeating.

Going for some juice now

Thanks!

When you say orange drink what exactly is it? I have such a hard time getting my water in and I have tried TONS of different things like Crystal light lemonade, rasp. ice, and now rasp. lemonade.. I have done grape sugar free powder to add to my water and nothing can get me going on the drinking thing. I KNOW I have to drink more. Orange sounds good. Does tang make a sugar free powder?

MAN.. I am lucky if I am getting in 16 ounces of water. We are suppose to be doing 60? HOLY I BETTER get on that! I am behind!

Personally I don't think there is anything wrong with what you are eating. As long as you are getting all your protein in. How do you feel afterwards? Hey if isn't broke don't fix it. I think you are doing great Julee. Hang in there.

Just as long as you are waiting to drink before and after meals (I do 30 minutes before and an hour after - you'll get 300 different time frames if you ask around ) and not WITH meals, it looks good.

and yes, Tang makes a SF variety and the Crystal Light Morning Orange is good too

Crystal Light Orange Sunrise is the best! Also try the Crystal Light Pink Grapefruit Sunrise. I have a hard time getting water in also. I have found that Sonic (a fast food restaurant) sells the kind of ice that I love by the bag. It's the little round pellets of ice and I buy that and just eat ice all day. Since my stricture is back, at least I know I am getting liquids down when I eat the ice.

Default Tropicana

I also love orange, but the Tang and Crystal light ones were not sitting right with me. Times like this you know your friends and family love you I think there were about 100 people going to every place they could think of and getting me anything sugar free and orange flavored. The one I like best and sits best with me is Tropicana SF Orange Ade. It says it is made with Real Fruit Juice, but who knows. It does have a very 'orange' flavor.

Thanks so much for everyones help with this, I know I need to get to the nutritionist, it's just so hard in the summer to find time for anything. I took time off work for the surgery and a week to recover. Then you have doctor appointments, and the few times I felt sick and went home, you almost feel guilty asking for more time off.

Default Trina - Sonic

Hey on your post you mention SONIC has ice you can purchase by the Bag??? Is that correct. I miss my Sonic icee's and wow I am going to head around the corner and see if theywill sell me a bag of their ice. I did find that 7-11 stores - well some of the chains - have a Crystal Lite slurpee. I found some that dont carry the sf brand but ...the ones that do - I make a beeline for when we are heading back home from san diego - YUM
