Everyone is different...but the basics are fast heart beat, nausea, diarrhea, sweaty (I might be missing some symptoms). I have only had a tiny mini dump and I had to take a nap to get the feeling to go away.

Trust me when you DUMP you will know it, it is a feeling you never forget. I remember the first time I dumped me and the hubby where out at a resturant and my face must have turned a couple of shades lighter and my cheeks turned red because my husband had this frighten look on his face. A 30-45 minute nap is the only cure.

A real dump for me is the shakes, gurgling tummy, lightheaded - I just want to lay on the bathroom floor. I have dumped 2 times and never want to again. I have a mini-dump or intolerance to things - ie: eat something that sits too heavy in the pouch, I feel sluggish or if I have sugar alcohol, I generally have to go lay down for about an hour. I pump fluids into me and feel better in a while. I just avoid the things that make me dump and SO THANKFUL that I do dump.

I have had one true dump, one time - felt lightheaded, nauseous, heart racing, awful feeling. I had to lay down and do nothing, no movement, for about an hour. I have little bad feelings when certain foods or drink don't go down good - either feel like I need to throw up, and I spit a bunch of foam, or I feel run down and yukky for a while.
Everyone is different. Hope you can avoid it, because it sucks.

My understanding of it is that it basically feels like you've got food poisoning.

For me, it has either been feeling sick, then basically feeling in a half coma for awhile, or most often it is vomiting, foaming, or just the heaving attempts, mixed with heart pounding, pulse racing, and if I'm lucky a big ole headache. I have heard of people going to the ER because it feels like a heart attack. I think it depends why you are dumping. The one where I get tired was when I ate bad carbs and not protein......I no longer do that. A few were from fried foods my pouch does not like (no longer do that either).......but most often it is eating too much or too fast (still need reminded here once in awhile, like last night).......or both.

I used to have hypoglycemia episodes. I would be very ligthheaded and pass out sometimes. Usually in combination with sweats and diarreah. Which to me sounds just like dumping, so I dumped before surgery! I dont eat much real sugar (never above about 8 gr, unless it was milk). My dumping now consists of sweating, lightheadedness, and dry heaving. I often go into coma's which I think are mini dumps, usually when I have carbs, fat, or sugar alcohols.
I have dumped on...
biscuit
taco bell
Nectar protein (don't know why, but I did)
3 bites of cheesecake (wasn't there a 3 bite rule?)
That's all I can think of.

I have had several mini dumps like the gurgling tummy. But the one major one I recall is when I tested milk only to find I turned lactose intolerant. My heart raced and I felt nauseous for about 45 minutes - couldn't decide if I wanted to barf or sleep (talk about being confused!), so I sat VERY still for those 45 minutes and told everyone to go away....

Ugh, I know that feeling. And the one where you hope to heaven you need to burp badly, but you know better.
