You are doing great, so shove that scale under your bed as far as it will go and forget about it! All you will do is drive yourself crazy. We've all had to do that...it's part of the gastric bypass experience for at least 20 people in this forum to tell you to "step away from the scale!"

Wink

Sweet pea, the honeymoon started the day you had your gastric bypass...
When have you ever lost 20 pounds in a month and not had to starve yourself? Think about it, you really do know that the pounds ARE going to literally FALL off of you, you will MELT, and people will start telling you that, and you will, eventually, start seeing that yourself
You're doing everything perfectly!!! Just like Bamagirl said, "Step away from the scale"
Take your measurements right away, keep a record every month, you'll see the changes from one month to the next and it'll blow you away!!!!

Enjoy the ride girlie, it's gonna be the best ride of your life, take my word for it!!!

Thank you to everyone I really do appreciate all the nice words. I have asked my Aunt who is living with me to take the scale into her room and i only get it once a week!! I did take my measurements last nigt 5 inches from my hips 3 from my chest and 3 from each thigh. I would definatly consider that an accomplishment!!!

Hmmmm......my "now what" is thinking of something awesome for my century and original goal mark. I kind of want it to be something I can see a lot. Any ideas?

I don't know what the budget is for the "goal" gift, but I would want something that is permanent and would constantly remind me of how well I did and how I want to stay on the right track. For me, I sort of live by the clock and that would be a really nice watch.

As an aside, for my anniversary, my husband actually gave me something very symbolic. He went to the swarovski crystal store and bought a big crystal swan for the swan I am becoming. I have it on my vanity and look at it every day.

Dyann - I have my eye on a watch as well I LOVE your hubby's gift of the swan. I have a pewter pig with stained glass wings ("when pigs fly") that I carried over from my weight watchers days, but the swan is so elegant!!

Those are good ideas. I like watches, but because I don't have a really professional job anymore I'm not sure I'd wear it enough. I did see a bracelet and a ring at QVC that says "To Thine Own Self Be True". Maybe a nice butterfly pic for the living room. Or maybe a new tattoo? I have my eye on one that would be pretty symbolic of my life, including the bypass. It is a lotus with a dragonfly. The dragonfly is about wisdom and change......gotta look it up again......the lotus is symbolic because they actually start down in the muck and then rise to the top and blossom. But I gotta find a space that isn't very visible before I become Tatto Lady!

Sounds pretty normal to me. Remember this is long term. I was very focused on everything I did early out and almost obsessive. I now look at weight loss per month and only weigh every 2 weeks and record monthly. You change so much with size, inches and weight over time. Keep doing as you have been instructed, do what feels good to your body and enjoy the ride. Best to you.

Default Not quite 100 lbs.

I had my surgery in Oct, 2005. I have lost 95 lbs and can't seem to get over that hurdle. It has been about 2 months since I lost my last few lbs. Is the honeymoon over already? Help

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but the honeymoon is considered the first 6 months. That doesn't mean you can't continue losing, but you have to make bigger efforts. The surgery at first does all the work, then slowly does less and less for us and we have to step up to continue our progress. That is why many people stall out. I think it is partly due to the fact that the smaller you get the fewer calories needed to maintain, along with the fact that we become "better" at eating once again, and old behavioral and emotional demons have often crept back in. But honestly, If you exercise, eat healthy, and follow the rules, you will lose until your body is at it's optimal weight. I actually lost my least (2 lbs) in month 6 and panicked thinking I was done. Then I kept losing, and hope to continue for a few more months. You CAN do it!
