Default Birth Control

What do you ladies use for birth control? And after how many months or weeks can you start taking the pill or get the shot? Can we even take the pill?
Also can we take the emergency pill (Plan B)? Just asking if anyone knows.

I went for my annual check up, and they didn't know what I could take or not. And I haven't even asked my doctor yet.

Any advice?????

Talking Depo

I have been taking the depo shot since my youngest son was born. He is 9 yrs old now. I didn't have a problem. I kept on my normal routein and had a shot two weeks before surgery. No problems.

Default The good news

I have not had a period in 9 years! If that girlie stuff started again, I don't know what I would do. Some people I talk to about it think it is wierd and not ok, but my doctor says it is normal. I also have not missed a shot or gone off track. Every three months I go in for about 5 minutes so they can poke me and I am done.

Default Birth Control

Since I am currently pregnant I can tell you what doesn't work!

Depo didn't work for me, after surgery I bled on it non-stop for six months and had to go off it. It also slowed down my weight loss, as soon as I went off it my weight loss picked up significantly. The pill is not advised because of malabsorption. The patch is good but only if you are under 200 pounds, I didn't look to see where your weight is. My doctor recomended an IUD but my co-pay was $250.00 and I didn't have it at the time. Sooooo......My husband and I in our infinate wisdom decided on condoms and spermacide until he could get time off his new job for a Vasectamy. Ta da! I am due in April. So as I said this is what didn't work for me. Hope I helped

Unhappy

[b]I'm one of those tipical mexican girls that dont like to skip my period for many months, that happened to me before with depo & I'm not going to lie, I did like not having my period, but my mom was freaking out and my family cause I didn't have a period. Do any of you girls take the pill?

Also, I do get ugly periods now after surgery, it's heavier and it's a lot smellier than before. Yes its gross, but we have to live with it right.

Thank you for your advice ladies!

I have an IUD, I got it after my 2 1/2 year old was born. I love it!! Don't have to think about it. No pills patches or shots, its good for 10 yrs, and if we decide to have another kid, just get it removed and start trying right away. My obgyn said its the next best thing to getting fixed, and I agree. The only drawback is my period is a little heavier than before. In my opinion its worth the convinence.

Default I've tried it all....

Currently I use the Nuva Ring. I forgot too often while on the pill. The patch gave me blisters. The rhytym method was too time consuming. Hubby says no to condom. I changed weight to fast to use the cervical cap. I haven't had a baby, so no one will let me have an IUD, and I'm too young to get my tubes tied.

Hmm, I removed the ring the week before surgery and went back on schedule 2 weeks later. It sucks having your period and the surgery at the same time!

I'm too paranoid to stop hormonal BC, so I don't know if I would return to a normal cycle. I was very irregular when I was obese. BC was the only way to stay regular. I hate having to use hormones with the side effects and all. But, it's better than 18 years of raising a child.
