Default I got HOME with a few bumps in the road!

Hi all!! I am home now, I got discharged yesterday afternoon. I started running a high fever over 101 and had to go into the ER lastnight. NoT FUN! Overall, I feel like I am doing well with little pain. I think my biggest discomfort right now is not knowing if what I feel is pain, stomach hunger, nausea, fullness, etc. These are all new feelings so I am not sure how I know what each is.

I am not sure if everyone post op has hot sweats, but I am tending to be flushed at times and sweaty. Could be the reason he gave me antibiotics, where you all flushed when you went home and hot at times like you were sick?

I have been taking my pain pills which have been a little hard, because I must be drinking too much water, cuz I feel sort of sick after taking them. I realize I have to sip, but it is hard with pills.

Any insight to help explain how this first week is going to go or should go would be helpful. I only feel like sleeping right now, I am assuming that is normal too after such surgery huh?

Man.. not that this is terrible, but I just want this first week to be over with. It is hard not knowing what is what!! I am still positive and excited, I think I am just a little scared and unsure about what I am doing!

Hi, and welcome home... week one is hell week for sure but it does get better... at a little over a month out, I so freshly remember that first week, aweful! lol but hey I walked 2 miles yesterday - hard to believe

As for the antibiotics, maybe you can call your Dr. and ask if you can crush them up, or if they have liquid? I know how hard it is to swallow even the littlest of pills - let alone anti's .

Just remember to rest - sip - walk - repeat you owe it to yourself to heal Good luck !

Julee as you know from the start nothing was easy about this process. It will take sometime before you get use to what is what and why do I feel like crap today or am I hungry or am I just having head hunger. It is all a learnig process. I wish I could tell you exactly how it is going to be but it is different for everybody. Take it one day at a time. Julee why is it your doctor gave you a pill and not liquid pain medicine? Well maybe you can crush your pain pill in some apple sauce.
