Default sleep apnea

Hi everyone,
I am new to the site and was looking for any and all information that i can read.....i have been approved by my surgeon for the surgery, i am now in waiting for my insurance to approve the actual surgery...then i will have a date probably in August sometime i have been told.
I have among other health issue like everyone else Sleep Apnea, I have been using a bi-Pap machine now for a month and have had awesome results and already have much more energy than i did, but was wondering how many of you have had the surgery, lost weight, and lost your sleep apnea machine???
I dont want to sleep with this machine for the rest of my life, seems that i only have recently had the massive sleeping problems just recently with recent weight gain, so have any of you been able to get rid of your machines?? and if so about how much weight did you lose before your sleep apnea had subsided?

Thanks so much
Diane

Hi Diane, welcome...I don't have a cpap machine, but it seems like a lot of people get to put them behind them once they lose some weight...this is a great place to share information, I'm sure someone will have an answer for you. I wish you a speedy approval, and just wanted to welcome you.

I use a CPAP machine. I'm 5 months out right now and down 100 lbs. I haven't been back to the sleep clinic to be re-evaluated. I really should some time in the near future. They did start cutting back on the pressure though. I just didn't want to go through another sleep study until I was pretty sure I was going to get off. My PCP felt that once I got a bit closer to the 200 lb range I would probably be off. I do know that my family has said that I have stopped snoring if that is any indication of my need. We shall see.

I have a C-Pap machine.......and was very irritated that 85 lbs down I still need it! I was so mad that I still haven't started using it again......it's been a few months. My number went from a 14 to an 11......which is still higher than most people. I am guessing that all that snoring that my normal weight dad did was sleep apnea. I was bummed, but the guy adjusting the machine says it coud still happen sometime that I won't need it.

I had a cpap machine as well and it was set at 11. I never once used it after surgery, so I returned it a couple of weeks ago. I no longer snore and have lost 75 pounds - my doc said after 50 pounds I would most likely be able to get rid of it, so I took care of it on my own without being re-evaluated - I am bad girl

I am just not going to bring up the cpap with my doc - he doesn;t ask about it at all, so I figured I was safe

Default I have a date!!!!

I just got my approval notice from my insurance today in the mail, so i thought i would call my doctors office to see what time frame i would be looking at for a date, and i couldnt believe it she put me on hold to look up my file then came back on the phone and said how about July 28th at 7:30 am!!!!! i was so happy i started crying on the phone to her!!!!!
So now i am going to get busy cleaning out my cupboards then stalking up on all the things i can eat FOREVER!!!!! I cant believe i am this close to a new life, no more pills hopefully,no more bi-pap machine,no more knee aches or back aches,no more plus size clothes!!! i can walk my puppies and not give up because i dont have the strength or energy to keep up with them, i can go swimming now with my kids and husband....and who knows maybe i will even let my husband see me naked oneday!!!!!!
So now if there is anything i need to prepare myself for please let me know...i have done all the research and reading....but is there anything else that comes up that most people dont think of???
