Question Hair loss and Hair Dye

Ok I know this is something that must have been discussed before but I can't seem to find anything about it. I am going through the whole losing the hair thing as expected but of course the only hairs that aren't falling out of my head are the grey ones. I am much to vain to walk around with a head full of grey hair, not to mention way to young.

Did anyone continue to color their hair even through the hair loss faze? If so did they use a particular brand? Is there a gentler brand out there that anyone is aware of. Any info would be great.

Thanks!

I stopped hi lighting and went to semi-permanent color on my stylists recommendation. I had absolutely no probs. I started the coloring process at 4weeks.

my hair started thinning pretty fast about 4 weeks ago. I went to my hairdresser and got a very cute short cut (so I could actuallly style it) but she also put high and low lights in it as usual and I had absolutely no problem. but I would definately consult a hair expert that you trust since everyones hair is different. p.s. way to go on your wieghtloss!!!!!

Mine is just starting to fall out - went to my stylist two weeks ago, and she did her usual highlight job. She mentioned that if it continues to fall out, she's going to want to cut it shorter, but she never mentioned going away from the highlights.

I was kinda traumatized at first, but I'm getting used to it. I don't think it's all going to fall out. My Mom had very thin hair, so I don't have genetics on my side, either. Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Just keep an eye on it...............

Mine won't hold color now for some reason. Guess I'm one of the odd ones.

Changed colors often. I like Feria by loreal cause the conditioner is really soft and gentle. The dye is perma but not harsh. Of course when I can afford the highlights and lowlights I do that instead. I am in the poor phase so I am pitch black hair atm lol!

Thanks Sami! Same to you.

I guess I will see if I can find a good stylist and color person and go from there. A friend of mine recommended Aveda color. I love their products and have had my hair colored with their dye in the past. I've heard that it is a little more gentle.

Thanks everyone for responding.

Highlights are a good way to make the hair that is on your head and not falling out (I know it sucks so bad!) look and feel thicker. The peroxide makes your cuticle slightly damaged and therefore look thicker. It is recommended for anyone with thinner hair, GBS or not.

Color doesn't seep through your skin on your scalp, so there is never a reason to stop coloring or highlighting. Enjoy your new color, whatever it is. Oh, and layers will also help add more volume.
