Linda,
From what I know, the pouch never goes back to it's original size. You can out eat/snack and put back on all the weight you've lost if you've learned nothing from your honeymoon period.
If you must have diet pepsi/coke, you can let it stand or put it into the microwave to release all the carbonation. It's the bubbles that cause you heartache. It's just not good for you though for several reasons.
I was hungry during the first, second and third weeks post op. I just drank liquid or ate something like watermellon.
You don't need diet pills! Trust in the surgery. I didn't believe in the surgery in the beginning, I thought, yeah it works for them, but I'll be the one that it won't work on. I'm now a believer. Ya, Ya, Ya, Ya, I'm a believer!
Call your doctor if these concerns continue.

Hi! I had my surgery done in Tijuana, and my doctor told me not to eat anything for the 1st month, I only drank water, gatorade, and Pedyolite, well I also had some yugort but my stomach was not accepting it very well, and yes I had some vegetable soups my mom made me but only drank the soup couldn't eat veggies yet. This was my 1st month and I did not feel hungry at all. Oh I also drank some milk which was great.
On my 2nd month I have been eating lots of chicken, vegetables, fruit, tuna, and ensures in the morning. Sometimes I eat Oatmeal. I haven't had lots of meat yet (beef), I had 2 tostadas w/ only avocado, cilantro and onions on Saturday night, with no meat. While my cousin had like 4 tacos (yes she is over weight but not as much as I am).
You should be feeling better by the day. When I go out now, I only have one drink for the whole night, when before it was like 4 drinks or more. I feel alot happier then before, I have more self esteem. Now I can really tell you that I love my self.
About the soda, do as watergirl says. I haven't had a whole soda can my self, I just drink little sips from other peoples sodas just to get over the anxiety of having one. Wish you luck! And yes ask for anything on this forum, everyone here is so helpful, they give you tons of advice. By the way my mom is having her sugery done tomorrow morning. Please guys pray for her.
Wish you the best too Linda!

Try drinking crystal light or something. You don't want to start drinking sodas again. This is a bad habit you had before surgery and you don't need the stuff now. One can of soda will deplete 1/2 of your daily calcium intake. You are now at risk of osteoporosis so don't start doing that again for your own sake. Besides bubbles hurt. I had some carbination by accident one time since surgery and it HURT.
You'll do fine. Don't worry.. it will all work itself out.
Good luck to you.. and know that you are not alone.. we all deal with these demons..

welcome to our friendly group of losers... the advice you have recieved so far is right on. However, I have one little comment that I hope doest offend you. What I see in your post is that you are just about one month out and you are worrying about wanting to eat more, hold more, have soda, etc.... why are you wanting to go back to your old ways that got you MO in the first place? I think it may be in your best interest to think about those issues.. perhaps see a therapist or something, it appears that you are still dealing with your food issues. Mourning is totally normal, food for many years has been our best friend... and now it's gone. Think about these things. You have been given a tool, a new lease on life, forget about diet pills they didnt work for you prior to your surgery and they certainly arent going to work for you now. Remember sugar pea to live one day at a time, as a MO person we are use to instant gratification.... know that one day before you know it you will lose 100 pounds and more... you will have control of what you put into your mouth and when... all you need is time, and support. Please stick with us and let us know who you are doing, what your frustrations are, etc. I am glad you are here and have decided to join us....

Sore and sodas
I was sore from my open surgery for about a 5 weeks...It's a big cut so don't worry. Now if you have severe pain, or red places....or ooozing stuff. Then worry...call Dr Potts.
Sodas:
I can drink diet soda now at 2 1/2 yrs out. I just usually don't too often. I like diet snapple and flavored waters that don't taste so sweet. If I really wanted diet coke a year or so ago, I stirred all the bubbles out it and put in lots of ice.
Huggles to all....
