Wrote a post here earlier today....and it disappeared somewhere...so here goes again.
Crappy Friday and Monday with my daughter and another 10 year old. Bullying here and to make matters worse, the child is a staff persons daughter. **it hit the fan. I didn't use my position to try to resolve the situation, but tried to use logic, understanding and compromise. I guess it didn't work - the other child walked away in tears trying to get people to feel sorry for her. Its a super crappy situation. Last night I was quite upset when I came home...dealing with tears from the daughter and all. I kept to fluids and I just could not think of food. I dumped on low-cal cranberry! I slept from 10pm to 1am and then spent the rest of the night up wandering the house, trying to get it off my mind. Had a granola bar. Lived on coffee this morning and protein drink for lunch. I could have eaten, but didn't want to dump at work. Positive thing is I ran a 2 hour communication session with my staff and that went really well. Good activity and interaction...made me feel like my old self again.
Health wise, things are great. Going to the doctor tomorrow for him to check my incision...that doesn't exist anymore. I find out my cholesterol, b12 and other blood work to see if all is ok. I am sure that it is. The cholesterol hasn't been done since before surgery...it was borderline high at the time and the good fats were a little low.
Insurance called tonight to let me know that they FINALLY approved the last weeks of my claim for being off work in July. Took their sweet time, but hey, they covered the extra time off!
Ate a much better supper tonight.
Had a good weekend, cooked well and ate well. I had a chicken burger out that was grilled, served with aoli sauce, bacon, melted cheese, tomato and lettuce. I removed the bun, didn't eat the fries, but the chicken was so good. I made steak on Sunday night with beets and brussel sprouts. OMG...the veggies were SO GOOD....steak too.
So I am eating well, when the stress levels are good. I just never know when something is going to bother me...its seems to be more emotional than physical.
I still think everyday that I am going to be fat again. I think, oh, I need to loose a few pounds..I don't! I have just never lived my life not having to loose weight...Is that strange? I still hover around the 152 mark - up 2, down 2....Seems that in some places I have lost inches again...will have to measure.
For some strange reason I am not feeling as cold as I have been for the past 18 months. I still wear a sweater and my feet and hands do get cold, BUT not all of me. In fact I took the heating blanket off the bed. Is my internal thermostat finally kicking in? Good thing.
So other than a few kinks in my day and stress that I don't need. All is fine....and the health - incision - post surgery crap seems to be behind me.
Oh, and new underwear again at La Senza! To buy cute undies again..yippee.
Until the next installment!

Labs back from the doc today and ALL is great, even my b12 was at 835 and cholesterol was awesome! He even commented on the quality of my red blood cells after having 2 transfusions with 6 units of blood in total...and *drum roll* they are super good too. made me feel great.
Now if I can just sleep! Up again at 3:30am and its been going on for months now. Some weeks worse than others. The doctor gave me some sleeping pills to take for one week and then stop taking them and see if my body adjusts to sleeping again, if not I can take them again for another week. I go see him again in 2 weeks to see whats up. Of course he had a few things to say about stress in my life...normally not stress, but the last while its been there!
He along with this suggested natural ways to sleep, increasing my cardio and has given me the clearance to go into the pool again!!!!! Tomorrow is the big day for a splash!
He looked at my incision and is happy that its sealed up, but is not happy with how it healed. He offered to have it corrected by opening it up and stitching it closed...ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!! NO WAY!!!!! He was surprised at this. I had another chat with him about how hard these last 4 months have been with this gaping hole in my belly....open me up again....not on your life...at least right now. I told him I might consider it down the road, but certainly not now.
So heres to my blue happy pill and a good nights sleep.....(and no, not THAT happy pill!)

Lisa, I'm so glad to hear that your incision has finally closed up. I can understand your reaction to being opened up again. I think I would feel the same way if I were in your shoes.
I hope you can get yourself back into a good sleeping pattern. I'm sure your lack of sleep isn't helping the eating issues at all.
Congratulations on the clearance for the pool!! I'm sure getting back into the water will make you feel so much more yourself. I know how much you've been missing it.
You've been quite the trooper, podmate. You really have! Thanks for the hand when I had my surgery a few weeks ago. I'm so glad to have it all behind me.
Dealing with a seroma now but Dr Ford is keeping on top of it but there is discussion of possibly putting a drain back in next week if he can't pull off a sufficient amount of fluid. He is pretty sure there is more in there so we shall see what next Tuesday brings. I'm pretty sure the fluid is building back up there again, it just really looks like it. My hemoglobin, RBC's and hematocrit are still low, so still struggling with the energy end of all of this but at least it is stable. Other than that life is going on per usual, just not back to work for another 3 weeks, is the plan.

Lisa, I bet you'll be sleeping like a baby once you get your pool routine going again! That's been a big piece missing out of your life - I'm excited you finally got clearance to get back in the water!
Yeah, I wouldn't rush into a scar repair after what you've been through... good call on that one!
Meanwhile... LOL on the little blue pill... sleep well sweetie! I've got some little pink pills (Ambien)) for my sleep aid!!!
ZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzZZZzzzzz ...

Pat...the stricture was a pain in my chest, along with me not being able to keep down any fluids or food. It progressively gets worse...but on the good side a stricture is easy to fix with dialation. For now...sip very, very slow and try to get in as much fluid as you can and if you can any food...I mean very little small bites of food. One bite, nailbed size, chew the crap out of it, wait 2 minutes and try some more...don't push it...anything you get in is right now is a bonus...be very thankful that you get scoped tomorrow...I had to wait 9 days! Once you get scoped, eat right away and keep eating to keep things open. Having a diet comprised of lots of liquids doesn't help keeping it open. Keep us posted and thanks for reading my story.
