There is still hole in my gut. Its much, much smaller, but its still there. Hopefully soon it will be gone. Some pain still in the area, but very manageable most days.
Had a stupid Healthy Communities meeting today with 35 people from our region. I was representing our District, so I had to keep very politically correct (a challenge for me some days!). Well I could go on for hours, but one thing that stands out like a sore thumb. Pre surgery, I bet this would not have even registered with me....The guy sitting beside me is an advocate for eating locally grown foods, no processed....etc. Anyway, for lunch we had soup, fruit plate, sandwiches and squares. Ok, I am NOT KIDDING here. He had 2 muffins, 4 croisants, 2 cups of coffee and a whole plate of fruit for the morning snack. Took him most of the morning to eat it. Then at lunch he had 4 tortilla wraps and 1 full sandwich along with a bowl of soup...then for round 2 brought back 2 more wraps and 12 (count them!) 12 squares - nanaimo, carrot cake...you know the ones. The guy might have weighed 170 pounds. How can any one person eat that much food..OMG! Made me just ill smelling all that food. I left at 2pm and they still had 4 hours of meetings a supper and social to go to. Gotta be in the 4000+ calorie range. OMG. I wonder if people used to look at me like that...you know the obese girl eating in public, and wondering how much I would eat.
Like I said, I could go on forever, but its amazing when you get 35 passionate people in one room all working toward a healthy community....if they weren't so extreme it would have been a reasonable afternoon!!!

I was hoping to come on here and find out that you had NO holes left in that belly! But, it does sound like you are doing better than you were the last time I checked in, and for that I am grateful! I think about you often...
As for seeing what other people eat.. the one thing I DO notice .. is that NO ONE chews.. holy cow... so many people swallowing their foods whole!
Glad to hear you are doing better sweetie... keep it up ! *Hugs*

Turkey Time....Its our Canadian Thanksgiving. I wanted to cook turkey so bad, then our company cancelled out last week, so decided a turkey is way too big to cook for 3 of us - expecially with my eating abilities. Then on Friday I found a 9 pound turkey, so the turkey supper was back on for Sunday. I was really down on Friday night...who knows why, so I went for a walk with the dog...longer walk than I have done since the panni. Felt really good.
Saturday I painted my daughters room and that led to the hallway and then the kitchen...you know how it goes. Wow, I haven't painted since I had GBP, and I can tell you its SO MUCH EASIER doing it 165 pounds lighter! I thought I would pay for it on Sunday, but felt pretty good physically. Did really good this day.
Sunday - 2 times on Sunday I had what I would call a mini dump or low blood sugar. One while cooking the turkey and then one after supper. Both times I had the hot flashes, had to lay down. I think one was caused by a handful of potato chips that I had while playing cards with my family. Ok, dumb I know. The other time, I don't know what caused it.
Monday, I had 2 more of these episodes. I really think they are mini dumps and from what I can figure out, they are about an hour after I eat and last 20-60 minutes. On the Monday I went for a walk 2 hours after I ate, made it 10 minutes from home and started to feel hot. Took off gloves and tuke and started to head back home. About a few minutes from home I had to work really hard to get the legs to keep moving, had to breathe different and the daughter said I was talking funny. Felt like low blood sugar. Made it home, stripped down, into bed and had a snack. Felt very tired and went to sleep, only to wake up 2 hours later feeling fine.
Last night I had a 1/2 banana and corn flakes with a little milk. Megga indigestion and then the hot flashes again.
I am not sure whats going on with my system, but I get this waves of light headedness, hot flashes, nausea and then I lay down. I looked at what I was eating and its really not that different in the past months. As I posted before, I have been adding in more carbs back in the diet and I am starting to wonder if thats what is causing it. So after today, I am cutting out the starchy carbs for a while to see if thats what is sending me into a tizzy.
My body has been able to handle brown rice, whole wheat bread and pasta. Stuffing made with white bread...well I am sure my system doesn't like that, so I had a few bites of it..thats all.
I have put back on 2 pounds..which for once in my life I am happy about gaining weight. What a head game that is! Vitamins are good, blood work came back fine (a month ago) and fluids are great this weekend. Even this morning at work I am light headed and just feeling nauseated. Gonna take things easy.
And to boot....today is my 14th wedding anniversary. Not so romantic with a nauseated wife! LOL. Hubby coming to take me for lunch...lets see what I can get down...Ughhh. ....the thought of food right now is nauseating!
Oh.........and some good news. THE HOLE IS CLOSING UP!!!! First time in 4 months and 4 days that I don't have a bandage on! Whoo Hooo. Had a shower today and didn't put anything on it, and its not draining, but crusting over (too much info).....but things are looking up in that dept.

Yup, kept lunch down, it was only half of what I normally eat...but it stayed there! A dozen roses might have helped the cause! What a nice hubby!

Is it possible you are just going through the "adjustment" period with food again? You know you didn't eat well for a while after surgery and maybe your system needs more time like back whenyou had the original surgery... just a thought

So glad to hear that hole is almost gone, podmate but I sure don't know what is going on with this eating thing, with you!! I mean I had a few days post surgery I wasn't into eating but nowmy body keeps telling me it needs more protein or something. I almost feel like I'm eating too much but the pounds still are creeping down so I guess my body needs it right now. If this keeps up too long you better get things checked out further.

Eating is good today....the actual eating part. Last night I had a major dump.....big time...good thing it only lasted 45 minutes or so, followed by a 3 hour sleep. Didn't eat anything out of the ordinary...what I feel is that I had a crappy stressful day at work, followed by lack of sleep (due to the fire thing!) and my body really responds in a negative way to stress. Good thing its the weekend and doing things with the family - I need a break!
The HOLE is closed...its scabbed over, but I don't have a dressing on it! wearing underwear and jeans without issue. I am gonna give it a week before I head back into the pool....but here I come..you gonna hear the splash all the way to the USA.. Taking a pool rat out of the pool for 4 months just about killed her....ok, I will take some pics of me in the pool! I don't mind having my pic taken in my bathing suit anymore!
