Default A boob job.............

I feel I have overcome some challenges in the last few days, and does it ever do well with your emotions.

Yesterday I had lunch with the hubby and my boss. I has a seafood melt. I took off the english muffin and put the seafood mixture ontop of my tossed salad. It was really good and very satisfying. Kept me full the rest of the day. Supper didn't go down as well, thus only at about 1/4 in total..but thats ok.

I went to a stampin party (I make homemade stamped cards & scrapbooks). The one lady brought garlic fingers and hot wings for snack. (they are pizza bread with TONS of cheese, bacon and dip). They used to be my favorite and I could eat probably 1/2 of a pizza before WLS, although that stuffed me.

The lady felt bad when she realized that I wasn't having any. I told her, by all means, don't feel bad. I can have it if I want to, I just choose not to have it. I hope I didn't make her feel bad by saying that it wasn't a good choice. One other lady made a few nice comments about the fact that food is in your head and agreed with me that I am surrounded by good and bad choices and its up to each person to make choices for themselves. I left without having any and walked back to my house afterwards and felt great about it. I then took the dog for his walk. Very active evening.

THIS IS FUNNY........a patron very privately asked me yesterday if I had a boob job! She said, I know you have been off work, and your boobs look so much bigger..........hahahahah......she didn't realize that I lost weight, but now that my boobs don't have a shelf to sit on, apparently they look bigger. I was a 46DD before surgery and now a 42DD.....no boob job here...its interesting the publics perception and then to vocalize it.

Just like another lady was shocked when I showed her my scar. She was trying to give me the, "You need to get in the gym and workout, no diet works without it" lecture. She knows I had surgery and apparently she thinks she knows best. I told her my doctor doesn't want me to do any weights or resistance training for another 3 weeks as I had the open procedure and we want to avoid a hernia. So after her comments about a "little"surgery, I flashed my scar at her....she gasped. You would think that would shut her up....nope.......she said, well AT YOUR AGE, you will never be a string bikini girl, so a scar is no big deal right!.............she is here every day at our facility, so this relationship should prove to be interesting!

I am actually enjoying ordering some clothes from sears to find that they are too big....little wow moments like these feel good, and in the comfort of my own home. I am finally at the stage where I need to buy panties. There have been times this week, that they just won't stay up...another good feeling. Pants...I wash in hot water now and put in the dryer....they shrink a little and give me a little more wear. Shorts from last summer....last week some fit ok, this week - NOT.

Hey, the scale may not be moving, but the body is changing in great ways. The hubby is sure starting to notice and is very complimentary...

Default Week 14

Today is the start of week 14. So weigh in today...and I was only down 2 pounds from 2 weeks ago. I actually went up and down 2 pounds, but at least I am in the 250's now. April 5th, I was 12 pounds heavier, so 12 pounds in a month...I will take it..The inches....took off a few more. Funny that the inches on my waist (where most of my weight is) came down 9 inches from surgery, my chest (below the bust) about 7. The rest comes from hips, arms and thighs. Happy with that. Patient with the stupid scale

Yesterday was an interesting day for me. Spent most of the day outside working on the house and enjoying the family. I made up a plate of good foods for us to eat while doing the house work. I have been feeling so normal lately that I forget that I had surgery. I found myself grazing on the food and drinking at the same time. It wasn't until we stopped to have a break that I realized. It didn't make me feel sick at the time- but I think I paid the price later on.

Had a BBQ for supper with foods that I have been eating all along....well not tonight....I puked my guts out for almost 2 hours. To the point of tears strolling down my face. My husband said that I didn't eat anything that I shouldn't have...so why am I so sick...

I think the answer is eating too fast, not chewing well enough and then having grazed in the afternoon while drinking my fluids. Probably made things swell up in my stomach. Lesson for the day. Keeps meals and liquids separate and chew food slowly and well.

The transition from having to think about food ALL THE TIME after surgery to living life again is challenging. Every stage that I go through is a new lesson. I am very surprised that my body didn't fight me drinking and eating at the time. This is scary....I could get back into old habits very easily.

So one day off track in 13 weeks, I think thats pretty good. The work days are so much easier to keep on track as I am so busy at work and have set meal times. At home its a little more laid back on the weekend.

The start of week 15. I am not getting on the scale until next week.....I am scared to be disappointed so waiting one more week will hopefully produce some results.

On Friday night I sat in Boston Pizza and watched people eat massive amounts of pasta and pizza. That used to be me sitting at those tables. At first, I thought I was drooling over the food as it passed my table....once they started to eat, it almost made me sick to watch them eat it. I had taco nacho's and shared with my daughter. I didn't eat very much as watching the others sure made me feel like not eating. Is this the first part of my acceptance of this...hmmmm. I felt good about myself and what I had and didn't morn the food at the other tables. (Never in a million years would I thought I would type this, but its all true!)

Last night I finally felt a little scared about the volume that I can eat. In comparison to pre-op, its nothing, but compared to a month or 6 weeks ago, its alot.....I think.

I had 2 oz. of filet mignon (steak), 1 skewer of vegetables (potato, parsnip, yam, mushroom, onion) and 2 tbsp. of macaroni salad with cheese. Later in the evening I had 1.5 cups of popcorn. At no point did I every feel full or stuffed..but I did stop eating when I thought the amount was adequate. Why do I never feel full? The only time I felt full or overful was before I had my stricture....this makes me wonder if the opening to the intestine is larger than it should be? If I don't feel full, does this mean that food is going into the intestine quickly or is my pouch stretched - if its stretched (which I do expect) but if I put lots of food in, I would feel full. Hmmmm..this is puzzling, but what isn't about this surgery.

I am SO HAPPY with my energy levels and well being feeling. Its so nice. I get a little tired, which is normal, but I have so much more energy and love to walk without huffing and puffing and feeling pain in my back.

I am down about 37% of my excess body weight, I just can't imagine what it will be like when I get to 70-100% of my weight loss. I set a goal weight of 160, which still keeps me overweight. Anything under 200 and I will feel successful, but I am conscious of the stats saying that 50% of EBW is successful - I am aiming for 70-100%.

I did really good yesterday until supper. In fact I ate raw veggies at lunch without any problem.

Since supper last night (supper, breakfast and lunch) I haven't been able to keep down my food. Fluids are going down fine, but not the food. Pissed off pouch I think...not sure. Tonight will be soup and lots of liquids and take it from there. I have my fingers crossed its not a stricture again. I don't think it is cause last time it was progressively getting worse day by day, now its hit and miss. Down two pounds this week (I wasn't going to get on the scale, but I did!)

Today, back to normal again and eating just fine. Go figure. I went back and looked at pictures of me over the past 10 years or so. Not only have I aged, but I can see the fluctuations in my weight loss. I am lower in weight than in any of these pictures, but you would never know it looking at the pics. I thought I would share with you.

Default Week 16

Well its week 16. Not sure why, but any hunger I was feeling a few weeks ago is gone. I had a few rough weeks where I was feeling hungry and either drank more fluids or went out for a walk to get away from eating more than I should. I also found that during the past week, smaller portions filled me up faster. I was starting to feel that my pouch had stretched, but now I think its less than I thought. No more vomiting, which is really good.

I am starting back at Curves this week. Haven't seen my doctor yet, but this is the time he said I could try and do this.

For the Month of May so far, I have lost 6lbs and 7 inches! Holy cow...I can't believe the inches. It's so true..pants fit you for a very short time, then baggy then to the point where you can't wear them anymore.

I am looking forward to camping this long weekend. Its going to be interesting eating and camping. I have prepared with skewers of salmon, shrimp and meats and grilled veggies. Gone are the days of hot smokie sausage in a bun with all the trimmings. I have fruit and nuts for snacks if I need them. Just looking forward to getting to the park and having a campfire.

hiya Lisa!

Sorry to butt in on yer blog .. but I was just reading and thinking about the not feeling full thingy. I experience the same thing most days and I was wondering .. Maybe it's coz I kinda measure my food by sight and that's how much I serve myself. Ya know? I put the same amount in a bowl or plate or portion or what have you. Maybe that's why? I never really push beyond that point, purely by habit now.

Just food for thought so to speak.

Love the pictures btw. You look so great now! And that fish .. wow. Yer gonna have such a blast camping this year I'll bet!

No worries about butting in...thats why I post here..I too measure and sometimes I finish the portion, other times not. I don't worry when I don't finish it - the times I feel hungry are the hardest.

I LOVE fishing.......thats a pink salmon I caught. I can't wait to see how things go this weekend.

PS: Curves went great..only did 2 sets, instead of 3, didn't want to push it.

Default Week 17......

This is a new learning week for me. I have increased protein and yesterday I had 84grams....whoo whoo. We will give this 2 weeks and see if it makes a difference.

I also learned that I need to really watch my portion size. As I don't get the full feeling, I have to control the amount in my bowl. For example - Chili. I made a huge pot last night and froze most of it. The bowls I put the chili in are 2.5 cup portions. I can eat almost 1/2 of a bowl at one time...I think thats too much. I will keep it down to 1 cup max.

I never thought in a million years that I would say that I like a protein drink, BUT I am actually enjoying the Nectar Fruit Punch. It has 23g of protein per scoop in 8oz. of water.

My clothes are falling off me and I am SO HAPPY about that. I am going on a holiday in August and need to buy some clothes for the trip, so I won't do that until the first part of August when I will know the sizing.

I felt a little scared last night when I totalled my protein for the day...its scary increasing my food and protein intake.......but hey, I guess I have to try something else to see if it work....I believe in you all!

Weigh in next week.

I am so thankful for you all. Your wisdom, support - it's just amazing. So thanks to you all. I hope I can be support for others here to.
