OMG Lisa! You have been through it! Take care of you, rest and lay low til that bleeding stops! Glad you at least have your laptop to distract you a little bit!

Thursday Update: The bleeding progressed this morning to the point that I couldn't stop the bleeding, so off to the ER I went. Left a message for my husband at work and scared him. I had a few good cries and the hubby is SO wonderful and understanding. I feel so bad scaring him. He was at the hospital so quick.

In the ER, they did blood workup and the hemogloban is now 148 - which is awesome. I have quite a bit of swelling and they think this is pushing on a blood vessel and its found its way to the incision site to release. They are calling the swelling - senoma or serenoma.

So I am on rest at home, no walking and no activity. Oh my, me the remote and the laptop!

They took out a few of my staples on the upper end which is fine. They removed 300ml of fluid from the incision line. Its still bleeding where it was, but he says its fine. So rest it is.

If the swelling continues and the blood pours out, I am to go back to the hospital....otherwise I have an appointment for 8am on Monday at the hospital to remove some more staples and check the incision, swelling and bleeding.

Still don't like the idea that you are bleeding but glad to hear that the hemoglobin seems to be holding and actually getting better. Make sure you keep off from those feet, Lisa!! If you don't I'll have to come hunt you down!! And you know how bad an irate nurse can be!! Not a pretty picture.

Gina and Beth...yes taking it easy, although not as much padding on my poor butt as there was before. Its hard not to do anything. Tonight I sat at the kitchen table and talked my husband through making a descent supper. Both he and the daughter pulled off BBQ steak, potatoes, peas, coleslaw and mushrooms. Not bad...maybe I can go on strike more often :-)

Found a good book to read, coloring Christmas Cards (yes starting early this year!) and doing Suduko. Tomorrow pretty much the same along with some TV and of course an afternoon nap!

Scale today says 169 - thats tonight - so the fluids are going down some. Emailed people at work today and they say this is a lot to go through to loose 4 pounds.....I hope they are joking and not thinking seriously!

Don't hate me Lisa, but here's another nurse who just can't quite accept that you are still bleeding and it seems to be ok with the doctors. We were taught that any persistent bleeding after surgery needed to be looked into ASAP. While working at the hospital, I have called many a doctor in the wee hours with no hesitation to report less bleeding than you have had. So it just doesn't make sense to us nurses. However, we are nurses and not doctors. So I'm trying to defer to their diagnosis and treatment. The best index is your hemoglobin count and it is good. That helps me feel enormously better. Plus you don't have that feeling you had when you were bottoming out and passing out. Now that was really scarey. So I'm feeling positive about those things. And I will continue to think positive. I want all this to end right now! I want you all better and no more problems. (all said with caring and concern honey).
