bummed out
I am still bummed out and frustrated. There has been NO movement on the scale and I am not going back on it for 10 days. I did measurements and 4 more inches off, which I am happy about.. BUT, there is no hair coming out on its own.............but I may start pulling it out if something doesn't change! UUUUgggghhhhh.
On a positive note, I have really enjoyed my walks and bike rides every night. My daughter and I go for about 2 hours combined. The dog is getting in better shape, not that he is happy about it. I haven't had to use my puffer or any meds for over a month now (Yippee).
I am SO GLAD that I don't have a scale at home. I could see how I could be obsessed about it. I only weigh at the doctors office.
Found a new thing that I like. Oven roasted turkey warmed up with a little packaged gravy. I have never been a cook who buys packaged food or uses mixes and such, so this is new for me. I keep an eye on the sodium content.
I expecting plateau's, but not this early out. I have to wonder what my body is thinking...is it in starvation mode and hording what it has left - if this is the case is there anything I can do? Or do I have to wait this out?

Lisa,
Don't get discouraged. Your body is trying to adjust to the quick weight loss. You are being very active and probably building lean muscle and that weighs more than fat. At the same time, you are losing size and then all of the sudden the scale will drop when you least expect it. Don't worry...wait it out. You are doing an awesome job and if you stay with the pouch rules, you will not fail and you will lose.

Even though the scale has still not moved....I am feeling really good physically which is something to be thankful for. I just came back from a nice walk with the daughter and dog. I find my pace is much faster now and I have to slow down for them.....good feeling!
Today I had to eat:
B- tried to eat boiled egg and a piece of bacon...It just didn't look apetizing to me, so I had a piece of cheese and 3 grapes. Coffee.
L- 1/3 cup total - salmon on a stick and grilled vegetables
D-1/2cup combined, chicken, mixed rice (5 rice blend) and asperagus
I am going to stay away from the pumpkin seeds tonight. I had lots of protein today, so I don't need the extra calories. Had lots of water and liquids today so I feel very hydrated.
Overall, I am very happy that I had the surgery...I am trying to be very patient with the scale and emotionally today that is ok...some days are better than others. It helps to have people comment on how good I look (I didn't think I would like it, but its ok) Until later,

Ok, the scale moved, finally...and not just a little...but 10 pounds. I have faith again. Its a very emotional thing to go through, but in the end, it all worked out.
I am happy with my loss to date, we can always wish for more, compare with others, but in the end we have to be responsible for our own actions.
The bathroom issues seem to have resolved themselves..need I say more!
I started eating a little more at breakfast as I started back at work and gettin up 3 hours earlier...it sure adds to your day. A boiled egg and one piece of bacon sit very well and stay with me till lunch. I am still amazed at how heavier protein sits better in the pouch. For example, one of the best lunches or dinners is beef or fish, a little mixed rice and grilled vegetables. It stays with me for the rest of the evening and I am enjoying eating real tasty food again. If I were to have yogurt, cheese, eggs, they go down really good, but don't seem to stay with me as long, thus I get hungry before I go to bed. Salmon has been a staple for me.
My energy level has increased dramatically. If I miss my daily walk, I don't sleep as well. If I happen to have carbs at supper and not as much protein (only happened 2 times so far) then I am tired and just not my bubbly self.
Nuts and crab dabs I use when I need that little bit more protein.
I go to see the doctor in 3-4 weeks and hopefully he will give me clearance to go back to curves. With an open surgery, I have to be careful not to put too much stress on the tummy as I don't want or need a hernia!
Life is so great after WLS!

Thanks Whitney...its good to know that you are in it with me. When I/we have symptoms different than others it can be hard, so going through this with others is just great.
thanks for being there for me too!

Itched like mad...........YES....I have always had dry skin, so I lather up in cream all the time. After sugery, the worst 2 places were on either side of my incision (breastbone to bellybutton) and about 2-3 inch strips and my elbows were so dry they were cracking open - and I even picked up an infection on the elbow (was at the hospital visiting the mother in law and the doc thinks I was exposed to something due to my open elbows). he put me on steroids for 10 days and it cleared things up. My legs can get dry too, so cream, cream, cream. I have a $1 BACK scratcher that I use on my back when the hubby is at work and the daughter is in bed. It does seem to be getting better in the past few weeks, but at 6 weeks it was the worst.

I feel like a normal person again....
Today we went to "the city" - its 3 hours away.
I had hot and sour soup for lunch. The hubby of course filled his plate with carbs and meats. Didn't bother me one bit. I loved my soup, its one of my favorites. On our way home we stopped at Starbucks and ordered an Iced Grande Sugar Free Latte. Wonderful.
Having these two things sure made me feel like a normal person again. It was so nice...then...came shopping....
I went to Penningtons to use my gift certificate. This was an interesting shop. I have NEVER left Penningtons without a bag of clothes - and I mean a BAG full. I tried on several different shirts and finally ended up with 3 in total. Two in a size 2X and one in a size 3X.(I was a 5X pre-op). Pants forget it!!! The leg holes are SO BIG I felt like I was swimming in them. My waist and hips are about the same size, pre and post op. It was funny. I have not shopped in any other store for me for over 12 years, so off I went to Reitmans across the street. They have sizes up to 3x. I didn't try on pants and the shirts, were DOUBLE the price compared to Penningtons! This shocked me. Years ago, plus sized clothes were SO expensive, until Penningtons really came about in Canada. The SAME SHIRT that I saw in Penningtons for $29 was $42 in Reitmans. Shopping as a plus size was a lot easier. Hey, but I woudn't go back 54lbs for anything!
So I can tell that my pre-surgery shopping was a lot easier and a lot less time consuming...I am going to have to plan to stay overnight when I go shopping for clothes and spend a great deal more money too. Good thing summer is here and I only needed to buy a few shirts to tie me over until the fall.....I have a few months to prepare for that shopping trip...ugggggh..
I used to live in Vancouver, BC, Canada, where shopping every weekend was something I did with my girlfriends. Now living 3 hrs away from the stores sure makes a BIG difference. I do have the ability to shop in the Sears Catologue and might give that a try now that I can fit into their clothes.
