Smile Jaime's Story

Hi Guys, I'm Jaime. I am new to the site but am looking for some friends going through what I am. Basically I have been heavy all my life. My mom and sister are also heavy. I normally stayed around 180 most of my teen years but in college I ballooned up to 260 and at my heaviest last month I was 330. I knew I had to make a change and I tried, I had personal trainers and strict diets but they never worked. So I finally decided to get the bypass, I call it the GB for short.

My surgery was on Dec. 15 2005 so I am just new to the whole thing. Just on Monday 1/9 was I progressed to soft foods. I find now that I hate eating, it seems like so much work. You have to eat super slow and careful. Sometimes I wish I could just hook up to an IV at night and get all I need.

My weight loss is going well, I have lost about 34 pounds so far but I need to get exercising I think to really make a difference.

I will keep you all posted and let me know if anyone has felt they way I feel about eating and does it get any easier?

~Jaime

Eating is difficult in the beginning, and is a lot of work, but I promise, IT WILL GET BETTER lol

Hey Jaime welcome aboard. Sweety the first couple of months are kind of hard. There is a lot you have to re-adjust to and a lot of emotional things are going on, all that smacked together can make things seem worse then what they really are. Give it time. As far as exercise I wouldn't really stress about that until your surgeon releases you to workout, now walking is a different subject. I highly encourage maybe 15-30 minute walks throughout the day if you can. It gets better, take it one day at a time.

Welcome! It definitely gets easier to deal with food. Hang in there! Check out the post-op category and you will find plenty of threads about problems with eating.

Hope it gets better soon!
