And, I was GONNA try the cottage cheese/tuna puree.

As always, you've managed to pull me off one of those blind ledges, girlfriend!
As soon as I work up the courage--and don't have to be on a con call for a stretch of 30 minutes--I'm going to take the plunge and try a variation of a pureed deviled egg. Thank you from potentially saving me from a huge disappointment to my tastebuds!!

Beth, I hope that deviled egg was delish. I may foray in that direction soon. You have been a real trooper on the liquids and shakes. Darn your doc's pregnancy! You deserve more protein/taste!

Even if you just eat cottage cheese plain, it's still good. Maybe my proportions were off between fish/cottage cheese, but I thought it was just AWFUL!

You'll know you are in heaven when you finally have a little nonfat refried beans. They sit well in the pouch and taste like real food. And one can of beans has lasted me all week! I've even nuked a tablespoon of shredded cheese over the beans for more protein.

Tomorrow I am starting on th soft meats -- either a deviled ham recipe that comes with the Magic Bullet, or some good deli meat.

Protein shakes are still my staple, but they go down easier when they aren't all you have to have. I put a little almond flavoring in my vanilly Unjury today, then worried that the alcohol in the flavoring might make me a little too zippy. No such luck.

Amy, thanks.

Duly noted on the scale-watching front!

Cattledogs are the best -- and sometimes the worst! I love Merlin and Lakota. Merlie, a red heeler, would take on a bear for me, but whimpers if he gets his feet dirty.

Lakota (she's part greyhound) has the best sense of humor. Her eyes just flash with fun!

They are beautiful. I really miss my girl. I do have another dog, but he's a dumbass. My son is moving back home today and he keeps nagging us to get another dog, but hubs says one of the other pets would have to go first. I'm not giving up my two parrots, cat or even the dumbass (giant chihuahua--he's cute and sweet but really dumb), so we're going to have to wait a while.

I guess I need to start a new thread about my African Grey for entertainment. She really is a hoot.

Here's a picture of my Chloe. She had diabetes and passed away last year. She was a very challenging puppy but with training she turned out to be the best dog ever.

Vicki,
You made my day! I love all animals-I have seven horses and three cats right now, so I loved these pictures! African Greys are awesome, what is your other bird?
My Siamese did an about face, I was really sick last night and he clung to me, even running over when he saw me throwing up. If I cough he wants nothing to do with me-he must have watched the news and seen the bit about the kitten in Texas who got Swine Flu (but is recovering), but when I was really sick last night, he was on the job! I even fell asleep with him across my chest...and woke up with my 18 year old kitty sleeping there, LOL!

Vicki, Chloe was beautiful. I can see the intensity and intelligence in her eyes. Your African grey? I just laugh looking at it!

LOL, Terri! I can't imagine you any more zippier--especially raking leaves 4 days out of surgery! I'm going to find low fat mayo, hold my breath and make some pureed tuna w/hb egg to see how it goes down. Tonight will be try ricotta/cottage cheese with mazzarella/marinara. Having never liked refried beans--I'm still willing to give that a shot even!

Tried making an unjury shake this morning with a couple of slices of banana, and it is just too sweet. I think for now I'll try with food and perhaps unflavored unjury.

I hope you're enjoying your last day of sabbatical! Keep the protein ideas coming--especially when we are back amongst the corporate environment tomorrow!

I hope I'm ready to go back to work.

I've kind of enjoyed this last week! I was holding onto all my sick time/vacation this year in case I had to go to open surgery or in case of complications. My sick leave was my vacation this year.

Terri, Ihope you have a great return to work and it is not too taxing on you. My Dr. gives all his patients 6 weeks disability, so we get paid from the state, and he says stay home and relax and heal.

On the otherhand I am so very happy that you seem healed enough to go back and are ready for it.

You are such a strong person.

Ellie
