Default New Job

Okay so I finally got a new job after being laid off for about a year. It was such a blessing from God, because I got it the last week of my unemployment. So I didn't even miss a beat getting a pay check. It just goes to show how wonderful God works.

So anyway I really love my job, I am a shift coordinator for the police department. Now it may not sound like a hugh deal, but trust me there is a lot that goes into the position.

Now to get to the plot of this story, New job, new people, and they never knew the fat me, and pretty much the whole office here is skinny. So this morning all the women are talking about fat people, and how disgusting, and lazy they are, and then they go on to say that now they can be even more lazy, because some smart A** doctor has gave them a surgery to cure all. So not only are they lazy now they get to have an easy way out of what they done to there self. I was flabbergasted, I just set there and listened. I wanted so much to defend all of us, and the decision that we made to better out lives, but I felt that I would just be throwing myself under the bus.

I struggled for years, and yes I know I over ate, and I didn't make good food choices, however I don't think I carrie the blame for my obesity all alone. There were several factors. I thank God everyday that there were smart doctors out there that was givin this gift from God to pass on to us.

Now I will say that I have learned a lot about eating that I wish I had knew twenty years ago, but hey you live and learn, and besides all these woman that were talking, well Ive seen them eat, and if they keep it up, it won't be long untill they A**'s will be huge, and they will be looking for help.

I like my job, and I pretty much like them. I just think they have such a bad attitude towards heavy people, and this surgery. I also feel that Im in a bad spot, because I want to share the knowledge I have, but now I won't do it, because I see how narrow minded they are.

I guess I will sit back and wait for one of them to blow up like a ballon, and cry out for help, and then maybe I will remind them of the conversation they had, before I offer how wonderful of a gift this is. And also I wanted to scream because of them saying this is the easy way out. I don't see anything easy about it. You risk you life, and change everything about yourself for the rest of your life. I work my butt of everyday to stay on track. And there are times that I wish I could have that candy bar, or that soda, but I don't. If they only knew what we go through, maybe then they would think before they speak.

Congrats on the new job. Sorry that you work with a bunch people that feel that its the "easy" way out to save your life from HARSH illness and people.
I wouldn't tell them that you had it done. Its really non of thier business all though it would be hard for me to sit there and let them say things. It just goes to show what education does for people.

Thank you both, and your right, I have decided not to share with them that I had this surgery. It really isn't any of there business, and besides I usually take Jenny Craig to work for lunch. Its the right amount for me, and the protein is high. I am also glad I found out early on how bias they are. It always amazes me how smart some people can be to have such a small minded view. Oh well

Delane you know how super excited I am that you found your job just when you did. Good things seemed to fall in place just when you needed them too.

You have more self restraint the I would have however. Me being the good southern redneck I am would have had a hard time leashing in my tongue when they started to diss the surgery.

I hate people who only know half the story.

Congrates and well done on securing your new job.

I think an awful lot of people think like your colleagues. You know what, I don't let their problem become my problem. If you know what I mean.

Thanks Cassie, and oh I wanted to let them have it, but with me being the new girl on the block, and not wanting to ruffle any feathers right out the door, I thought it best to keep my mouth shut. To me it just showed there ignorant side. You wouldn't believe how they eat, it really blows my mind, and they eat all day at there desk. I remember those day's. I am so glad the old me is gone. I am so much more educated about food now. Plus I healthier.

As far as my job goes I love it. I even like it better than what I use to do. Plus if I will agree to go back to school for some more training, which they will pay for, I could get a promotion with in 2 years with better pay. So of course I said yes to that.

I totally agree, and Im not going to let them cause me to get in trouble at work, or worse loose my job. I know what battles to take on, and this one isn't one of them. To me they are just ignorant about the whole issue. Thanks you for your support.

Congratulations on your self-restraint Delane. Being the new kid on the block is difficult enough. Sometimes we have to decide that its time to hold back a bit, but, if they continue to talk like that and you can't hold back any longer - give them a kick in the a** for all of us here at T.T. who have agonized over the decision we made to have this surgery. Congrats on the new job as well and I'm glad that other this one incident you are enjoying it and like your coworkers.

I had to work a half a day today, and we had a temp come in, and guess what she was telling me, and the other lady that she is planning on having the surgery. I though to myself Oh what a can of worms she just opened, because Im sure she will be the topic of conversation of Monday. I caught her before we left and told her to call me.
