I'm kinda bored/tired... I worked 8 hours last night, then had to be at work at 7am today, but didn't go to bed until 1:30 A.M. Sooo I'm working on 4 hours of sleep, but I don't wanna lay down cause I know when I wake up it'll be 3 in the morning and BLAH.

Anyway, a few days ago I ran into my friend who really encouraged me and gave me the nerves to get started on the WLS path. We met through work, however she doesn't work at the store anymore, she works for the company still but at the corporate office. I'm going to the same bariatric doctor she went to, same dietician and same surgeon. Sadly to say...when I saw her, she is really packing the pounds back on. Before she had her RNY, she had huge hips and a uhm...big....booty! After she lost all of her excess weight, everything disappeared and she was looking faboosh. Not so the case anymore, granted she didn't gain EVERYTHING back, but she's on her way. Which sorta scares me, but then again doesn't.

I realize this is a TOOL and isn't a miracle fix. I'm just hoping that my willpower will be strong once the honeymoon is over. I do know that I'll never, EVER be 300+ lbs again. Why go through all this to eventually gain the weight back? That's stupid. When I went to one of my 3 pre-op nutrition classes, my dietician stressed FIBER. And suggested us to start upping our fiber, and to use Benefiber or something similar. Question though...which I'll be asking her in 10 days (yeah, I'm counting. SHUSH! ). Am I supposed to mix the Benefiber in my water/liquid immediately after surgery? I already understand the importance of protein and etc etc..

Another question I have is, do you *feel* the catheter in you? And when they go to take it out, do you feel that too? A tube up my poonany is kinda eek. Sorry sorry... I've researched about the drain tube and honestly, the urine bag/catheter thingy is on my mind more than the drain. I'm 'tarded, I know I know...lol.

The following is a rant, and may get long-winded and confusing, but if you keep up...please share your thoughts for whoever reads..

I have (had?) a best friend, well, when I told her that I was going to have WLS, at first she was so excited for me and even said that it gave her motivation to do it too. I thought well great, we'll both go through it together and lean on each other. WRONG. As soon as she found out, we hardly talked anymore, haven't hung out in over 8 months and barely text each other. Immediately after she found out, she'd post on Facebook how she lost 20 lbs and how she's sooo tired from being at the gym all night, and I just find it funny that the ONLY reason why she is doing that, is because she's so afraid that I'll be the skinny friend and she'll still be overweight.

Another reason why she's doing that, is cause she made a fake myspace page a long time ago with fake pictures...and met a guy through myspace. This guy (we'll call him Danny) is in *love* with her (the FAKE her) and she i guess, fell in love with him. Well, instead of fessing up to what she did, and saying "hey, I stole pics of skinny bitches and made up an imaginary life" she is putting his heart through the wringer and coming up with lie after lie. She is posing as the fake girl, and then she is acting as a cousin to the fake girl. She managed to become mutual friends as HERSELF with him, so it'll help keep up the lie. She's made over 8 other fake myspace pages of various fake sisters and brothers...to make the illusion of a fake family. Danny has sent her so much money, paid her bills... and pretty much has his life on hold over someone that isn't even real.

She (as herself) invited him to spend a few weeks in town.. he lives in Texas.. and how convenient was it that the FAKE her..the one he is in love with, never has met, etc etc... told him she was in Florida in rehab and therefore wouldn't be able to see him when he was in town. The reason why I know all of this is because I have access to my "friends" (quoted cause she's not much of a friend, anymore and don't really care to have her as a friend) myspace, and to Dannys myspace. Through reading their emails, it's a sad sad situation. Looking at Dannys block list, I'm on block. The "friend" put me on block. Cause she's afraid I will send him a message. She's desperately trying to get him to love her...the real her. She claims to "be grown up" and not have time for "drama" but she's living out a soap opera daily. Boggles my effin mind!

Man, I didn't mean to type a long-assed post again but I guess once I get going, I can't shut up.

Well, holy crap - your "friend" is certainly in deep doo doo! Personally I wouldn't even want her as a friend if she is so devious - even making up a family for this fake person....wow! I've never heard of such a thing. I think I've lived a pretty sheltered life here in the big city of Toronto. Boy oh boy, if you want advice....steer clear of this girl. This whole thing is bound to blow up in her face and you don't want to be involved in all that.
As for your surgery and the catheter - well, here we go again - I am sheltered - I've never heard of a poonany either!!! That is certainly new terminology to me. I didn't get a cath so can't comment on it one way or another - but I did laugh at that term, yes I laughed and am still laughing. You are really a good writer - I know I told you before but really - you are!!! I almost feel like I'm reading your diary or something. Can't wait for the next installment and to hear more about your "friend".

1st- I agree with Rhonda.. steer far clear of that girl.. that is some evil shit she's pulling on the poor guy.. she is stealing more than money from him.. she is stealing time from his life he will never get back! It is evil and mean.

2nd- the catheter.. everyone will have them.. they insert them for during the surgery but many times they're removed before you wake up.

For me, I insisted they keep it in, but that is for me, I've had enough experience to know that my body shuts down 'in that way' after anesthesia. I can't pee for a good 7 or 8 days after having it, so I made the doctor agree *in writing* mind you that I would keep the cath for 7 days, minimum. I can tell you I am sooo grateful I made that decision because I didn't have to worry about being able to get up to pee or to be recathed over and over as I have in the past....

They don't hurt going really if you have a good tech but are most likely going to be out before they do that.. and they don't hurt coming out either.

Default Catheter

Chrissie,

I didn't like the idea of a cather either, but I just had it in until the day after surgery and it wasn't even uncomfortable and certainly didn't hurt. That first night that I walked, I carried my pee bag, however, and that was not fun. Luckily, no one else seemed to out and about.

I absolutely DON'T want to be involved in her hot mess! I find it funny that she acts like she's so popular, and everyone loves her and tells people she has a boyfriend, when really....she doesn't. Ah well! Aww, and thank you for the positive feedback of my writing!! <3

Poonany is a fancy~shmancy word for a vagina. lmao

As always, thank you Kel! I didn't know what that experience would be like...

Thank you also, Laur. I was wondering if you would feel it and if it would be uncomfy and if it'd hurt. Wonder if I can put stickers on my pee bag if I have to carry it?!!?

Heyyyy, I had to have mine for like 4 days after this time. You totally lose all dignity in the hospital, no worries. And when its in, it just feels like you have to pee all the time. lol. Trust me, I kinda missed it when I had to get up every 20 mins to pee after.
