Thats such an encouraging story! Thanks! I really think that I can, its gonna be hard but I think I can handle not speaking to them for awhile, if ever. I know my mom is gonna come around, she wants grandkids too much! Even tho she says its wrong to have bi racial kids because they get made fun of. But I know several bi racial kids and they turned out just fine, some of my favorite people actually! I really hope they come around, but if not Ill still be happy.

Holly, the heart wants what it wants. Your family will get over it. Although, I don't know why they are acting that way to begin with. my best friends daughter had a bi-racial child and now I am his proud Aunt. I love that baby so much! Kept him all weekend (he's just turned 1). Anyway, her dad said he would not have anything to do with the baby and I kept telling him that would be his loss and he would change his mind when he laid eyes on the little guy. Well, he did and he is as proud of a grandpa as he can be. You never turn your back on your child for any reason! Especially one so silly. We are all people regardless of our color. I'm with Patrick, I'm prejudice against two groups stupid people and white supremisists. Follow your heart!!!!

lol write in human.. I feel ya.. race box whats that?
You want to hear something funny and a little dusgusting at the same time? Something for all of ya with lil black children in California at least.. in California they cant give IQ tests to black children, (its a very old law that at one time was considered biast) so for my oldest son Elijah who was incredibly bright and warranted some testing I had to mark him as white for school records so they could implement the IQ test..... isnt that crazy?! His IQ wound up being REAL HIGH!

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of! If a child needs or a parent wants an IQ test should it matter if they are blue? You know the race box, on almost all forms they ask your race and they have a box to check for white, hispanic, african american, etc. and then there is other at the bottom of the column and a space to write in your race. My grandparents and my hubby say just put down white and let it be but I don't identify myself as a race other than human so that's how I answer. Even did it on the census form!

I'm multi cultural too. Who really is lily white anymore? Considering there's 1 billion East Indians and 2 billion Chinese running around. So who's the minority? Let's see, I have Vietnamese, French, English, German, Irish, Dutch, oh a whole bunch of things. I recall in high school that I had to get a judge to verify that I was part Asian or Oriental at the time just so I can mark Asian vs. white in the boxes! I had to get my birth certificate, my mother's birth certificate and to bring her in person down to the courthouse! Hello, where do they think the nearly hairless body, almond shaped eyes, and yellow skin came from? Whatever! My hubbvy is part Irish, Canadian Eskimo, Dutch, and some other european stuff. That would make our kids really confused if we had any. I sometimes check all the boxes when filling out those forms. What's funny, the extremists quote some crazy scripture and yet, the garden of eden was located in the middle east. It's also well theorized that the cradlel of life began in Africa.

Get this, I was at Rite aid a few weeks ago getting meds. A "white" gal and her "black" boyfriend were looking for the bathroom. The guy asked the pharmacist where the bathroom was. The crazy ***ch had the nerve to say "Don't ask him, he doesn't know anything. He's Iraqi." The pharmacist is from India!

Anyway...that's my rant.

I don't know about the inter racial dating thing...but I do know that when I was pregnant and not married (at 25) my parents stopped talking to me. My brother had just been killed too, so it was a "raw" time for all, but the fact that my mother chose my father (even though he was an ass to her most of time) just about killed me. I couldn't believe they had just lost one child (he was 29) and then they chose to totally exclude me from the family. (They wouldn't let me sit with them at my brothers funeral either). I made a point of sending them mother's and father's day cards, just so that if something happened I wouldn't feel guilty. They finally came around after the birth of my son - but it took a long time to heal our relationship and at times it's hard for me to think about that whole time in my life.

I guess what I'm trying to say is people (parents included) do some pretty f'ed up stuff sometimes out of pride, religion, beliefs - whatever... you may be hurt, but if you are strong and believe what you are doing is best for you - stick to it. I can't imagine my life without my son and I'm sure my parents feel the same now too - but it was a long hard road to find out.
