Default Welcome to your new Life Kasey

We dont call it "Hell Week" for nuthin'.

Glad to hear you are feeling better now.

Regarding the nurse, so unprofessional and inappropriate. But that is behind you. The pain is usually from the gas they use to inflate your abdomen. Walking as much as you can tolerate, belching and farting is the best way to get that out.

All the best to you Kasey

It has not been an easy recovery. Was in the hospital for 4 days instead of 2, ended up back 2 days later with dehydration. Nausea, (but no vomiting), thrush, (gross), and a chronically bad taste in my mouth.

I can honestly say that today in the first day I feel somewhat normal. I am still on full liquids, and was on full liquids for two weeks before the surgery. So that makes me 5 weeks on either clear or full liquids! I am so craving something to chew. I am not hungry, but I miss the tastes of certain things.

When I went to have my pre-op stuff done at the hospital, I had several people say that I was one of smallest people they have seen getting the bypass. What! A BMI of 40.6, and they wanted to know why I was getting it! Sheesh!

One nice thing is that today was like Indian Summer. I after having that snow and having to put on the heat, it was nice to be outside in the sun for a little while and I felt a lot more optimistic about the future. I still can't wrap my brain around the fact that I will lose all this weight and not be hungry! It is so foreign to me!

I know you will be feeling better soon. It is a lovely time of year here. Enjoy your time taking care of yourself, (if the kids let you)!

Stay in touch.
It truly is amazing to not feel hungry!!
Im feeling so optimistic about the future too.. Its awesome

Default Healing

Just wanted to check in with everyone. I am doing wonderful. I have been blessed when I say I have suffered NO nausea or vomiting at all. I am getting the hang of things for my new life, my new start. I do still have some left side soreness, and its getting better each day.

I got me a new exercise bike. Im going to use it each morning as the kids watch their Dora the explorer..lol.. My goal is about 30 minutes at first. I would like to use it an hour each day. Exercise is very important to me. I would like to tone my body as I lose weight, the best I can. I want to make that part of this journey. I will eventually join a gym when I feel it is time.. For now, I will be happy breaking a sweat, and using the bike. Plus, I know, this will help me make my goal, Like Ive saud before, Im gonna utilize this 'honeymoon phase'

Hubby goes back to work on Monday. He has been wonderful taking care of me. We joke and say that since the surgery, Ive been in my 'healing bubble' which is in my room, relaxing, reading, or watching tv. We have a 3yr old and 10 month old, and he has been watching them. The older kids r in school, and they pretty much take care of themselves..lol.. Just gotta feed em.. I swear, my highschooler cant even boil water..or so he acts like it..lol

I just cant wait to be healed!!! I wanna go walking! I wanna do things!

I woke up today and ::knock on wood:: my left side doesnt hurt. Whoo-hoo. Hope I can keep this up. Its wasnt untolerable, but it made me have to sit alot. Of course, I will still take it easy, dont wanna ruin a good thing! I lost 5lbs since Thursday. I had been stalled for a week. So that absolutly rocks. I weigh less than my hubby! By 5lbs!
I cant wait to start my exercise routine. I did ride my bike for 10 minutes last week, before I was in pain, and decided it was just too soon.
SO tomorow I will be 3 weeks post-op.
I went to the hospital at 230. I left the hospital at 241, and I now weigh 215. My start weight was 256. My highest weight ever was 270.
So, I lost 15 real lbs since surgery. Some of it was fluids. I can live with that. 15lbs in 3 weeks. I like that!

Default It gets better and better Kasey

The pain goes away, the body gets skinnier, you feel more nimble and active. You adjust you're "eyes to the size" of portions appropriate to the size of your pouch (or sleeve).

Then you have to work on your own head....

Getting accustomed to being thinner.
