Good luck to you
What procedure are you having?
The first question: "Protein sparing" is usually in reference to a modification of a fast. A "fast" means no food at all. "Protein Sparing Modified Fast", means a fast EXCEPT for protein intake. Capice?
It is a great idea to start your blog here and now. And this is a great place with wonderful supportive people who have been thru it.
If you get some pre-op jitters and want to know where my head was 10 months ago have a look at:
Aviator's Log Book
Takes a while but is is worth a read, so you will know what to expect on the emotional front. I suggest starting from the beginning, since it is where you are now.
Looking forward to seeing you on the other side.

5 days to go
Well, Im making it thru my first day of the diet. And I am doing ok. Just keeping myself busy.. I guess Im starting my nesting phase..Making sure this and that is clean..lol..Im actually, well, I dont wanna say enjoying, but glad that I am at this point, and this is my start of my weightloss journey. Im so glad my Dr, allows some protein, even thow it is a small amout. And I actually dont mind the broth.
Now, in non-weightloss news. I live in Connecticut, and its snowing! And my furnace is broken! Its being worked on as we speak, but Im stuck in my room with a space heater and the kiddies.. Needless to say..this was the room Ive been cleaning all day!
Also, I went and got my B-12 today. I already have lots of centrum chewables..Now I couldnt find chewable centrum citrate. Im thinking this may be something I have to crush.. I will confirm this with Dr.. I bought it anyway, because it wasnt too much.. The B-12 is a lozenge. I tried 3 places and could not find a liquid iron supplement. On one of my Dr's papers, its does say he can prescribe it, and I am gonna ask him to do so.

Good luck lady, I hope I am as strong as you when it comes down to my liquid diet, but I think that I will be motivated b/c I know its the step before surgery. Your surgery date is my youngest daughters bday
I got the results of my blood work back, apparently my B12 levels were dangerously low, the Dr sent me a Rx in the mail, I also had low Vit D and Calcium, I am working on getting those to normal levels and under control so that I don't have to worry about anything later on.

I actually had an epidural for my pain with my last surgery. I looked at them like they were crazy at 7am, i'm like uhhh i'm not pregnant. I think it was taped to my back... then again i was completely non-functional for about 3 days, following this past one.
It was amazing, i loved it. I felt no pain but once that epidural came out forget it.. pain central.
I also had dilaudid for breakthrough pain. Those were good days....

Kasey, it's hard to find chewable calcium citrate in stores. You might find it at a health food store. If you have Vitamin Shoppe near you, they carry the Twin Labs brand. Otherwise, you might have to order it online. Some people do get Citracal tablets and dissolve them in a couple ounces of Crystal Lite or something.
I see you're gonna use Centrum chewable multis. I just wanted to make sure you were aware that those don't contain much biotin or any selenium, so you might want to supplement those things. You definitely want to get your biotin so you keep as much of your hair as possible!
