Awww, Axel. I'm so sorry to hear about the brakes being put on. It is what it is and in the long run, it is better to get everything nailed down before hand. You might take this time to research another WLS option-the VSG. In a nutshell, it only involves reducing the size of the stomach, by about 80%. You don't face malabsorption issues as with RNY GB and you don't have a foreign object in your body such as with a lapband. There is a forum within TT that has some info with it. The biggest issue w VSG seems to be that it is not yet covered by all insurances because it is considered "experimental"-hasnt been around 40 years like RNY GB. It has been around for years, though, and there are no down sides I hav come across.
Anyhow, so sorry about losing your place in the surgery line. Good luck getting the platelets issue resolved soon.

I've researched VSG and it's just not something I want. Thanks though
I guess I'm more outraged about the fact that my doc used mind stuff to get the moms all worried. I have everything approved, insurance and surgeon...but my doc went all postal.
I still don't like her; she stole my date (and I want him back)!

Axel, I totally understand how you feel . now that i decided to do the surgery, i want to do it NOW before I change my mind but It do take time and many lab tests and having to listen to many opinions trying to sabotage your decision. I am also seeking the operation to cure my mental illness and severe loneliness and to raise my self confidence. I prefer to die rather than to stay like this.
I will think this preoperative time is good so I can get more emotionally prepared and to have the chance to talk to wonderful ladies and gentlemen over here.
there is a saying which says: fail to plan then prepare to fail.
I am trying to educate myself on the operation, do shopping to explore my options after the operation.
eventually it will happen. please take care of urself and keep up the positive attitude.

We'll love you wherever you are, Axel. I really, REALLY wanted an August date, but it didn't happen for me, even though I met all the requirements. But the Octostaplers are one cool group, and we'll always keep a place for you here!
Mourn a little, but hang in there. This is such an exercise in patience. I think your doc really does have good intentions. And who knew uncombable hair syndrome is real?

Axel, so sorry to hear that your date was cancelled, but "he'll" wait for you, I'm sure. Don't want to go on a date and be a sick "girlfriend". Once all the other docs give the clearance to your surgeon and PCG, you'll feel very confident that all the bases have been covered. I'm sure your doctor has your best interest in mind, but I do wonder why s/he wanted use the mind-game to get her point across to your mom. That is a little below-the-belt if you ask me. It would have been enough for him/her just to say "I am not allowing the surgery at this time. Get the tests done first." No need for a professional who has treated you for years to use the guilt thing. Anyways, just use this time to further prepare yourself. Don't sweat the small things Kid .... we love ya!

Yeah, my mom is positive that I have hair felting because my hair looks uncombable. Thank god I'm having my hair chopped on Friday
Today is the last day of running around we have to do for all these tests. After I see this doc, I have to call MY doc and get a echo cardiogram on my heart
Whatever. When I get home, I'll be calling all these doctors and giving them my doc's fax number. I want her to release me ASAP!
God, I'm a spoiled little brat, ain't I?

So not only do I need a spanking, but I need a time-out as well? Dude, you lay down the hammer hard!
I got back from one of the doctors today and it was just horrible! I was talking to the blood doctor and you know what he said to me? Okay, I was talking about how I need his okay and to say that to my doc because I am having open RNY gastric bypass. He said, I quote, "Why don't you lock up your refrigerator and give the key to your neighbor?"
His personal assistant was laughing and I gave a weak , "ha". Then he proceeded to talk about his childhood in India and how skinny everyone was because they didn't eat. He also told me to look at pictures of African children because I will not find any overweight people there.
They also took some blood and went vein diving. It hurt so much, guys! My arm still hurts from that needle they stuck in me. Then they had to cut me for a test called a bleeding time.
When I got out of the hospital, I was crying so hard. I'm actually crying now; how can a doctor say that? AND he treats cancer patients!
I so hate what I'm going through now. I just want the surgery, I don't want what I have to be going through.
