First full day at home and I feel great. Slept really well in my bed last night, woke early and had 2 cups of decaf. The meds seem like alot, calcium, galbladder meds, vitamins, nexxium...whew, no wonder I didnt eat much. I did have 1/4 cup butternut squash soup...S/f choc pudding and am getting ready to have profect.
Pain wise I am ok..hubby came home at lunchtime and took me on a walk around the neighborhood, wore me out but could not take a nap.
I have decided not to weigh myself until the 2 week check up which will be almost 3 weeks out. My rewards wont be in scale numbers but in health issues. This last year has been pretty scary healthwise, and I sure dont want to continue down that road.
I keep telling myself to take baby steps, rest and heal.
This is truly a gift.

Ellie-I am so glad to hear that you are doing well and "catching up" with your husband. I hope all continues down the road to recovery. Your example is inspiring. Thanks

Day 5, lots of smiles. My oldest son, his wife and 2 boys came to visit this afternoon, I had missed them so much. Givanni is just 2 and Darion is now 2 1/2 months. I was careful not to lift them, Dr has me on a strict 20 pound restriction until 12/1/09. The baby is only 12 pounds but G is over 25. Before surgery I have been working with him to climb in the van and carseat himself, climb up onto the couch to be changed etc. I am the Granny Nanny to all three grandbabies, and will start back to "work" tomorrow. I will have all three babies 2 days a week and just Darion and Gracie (3 1/2 months) 5 days a week. Givanni will join us on Tues and Thurs only. I am loving life.
Today I was able to walk 2 miles by myself...made hubby nervous but I knew I would be fine.
I am working hard to get my protien in before bedtime. When the kids were here I just forgot. Water is looking much better, but protien is lagging. I have a few hours to try and get more in though.
Tomorrow is day 6 and I am ready!

Wow, you are the Granny Nanny to 3 - that's a huge accomplishment. I was babysitting my granddaughter (she was only 1 then) last year, but was not well and had to stop in February when I was hospitalized for a mini stroke. I know how strenuous it is to have toddlers in the house, but 2 infants and an infant - well, I can't even imagine that!
You just take it easy with all those little ones there trying to get Granny's attention. Glad you are feeling well enough to begin taking care of them again and on your 2 mile walks. You sound like you are doing marvellously well! Keep up the great work!

Well yesterday was one week post-op. Knock on wood (my Head) I am feeling great! I started back to watching the babies on Monday and my days are just so full on joy.
The protiens and water are getting much easier to get down and I am not scrambling to try to get some in before bed. I start my mixing protien shakes in my decaf, very much like a latte. Then afternoon a cookies and cream shake, then late evening I mix protien powder in my hot cocoa for a yummy late treat to unwind.
I have been enjoying walking and playing with the kids, the only restriction I have is no lifting over 20 pounds until Dec 1st, tough one. Givanni, the 2 y/o weighs about 27, so I have to keep telling my self not to pick him up. The babies are both under 15 pounds, so I am ok there, I just watch that I am not picking them up too much.
I have no pain or discomfort, do tire easily still. I have been sleeping like a rock at night though. Life is good and I am only a week into this gift!
Trying to plan ahead for Thanksgiving week in Cabo Mexico. Ugh, one month out, I will still be on soft or pureed foods by then. We are going with our best friends, we all golf and travel together, so that part will be fine and I am sure I can always find soup or eggs. Just something to keep thinking about.

Great to hear that you are doing so well. When you write your list of things to take to Cabos, add your Bullet or small hand-held mixer to puree beans or other foods served there. They might accommodate your needs at the restaurants or hotel as well. I don't know how you do it taking care of the 3 little ones - one at a time is enough for me! Cudoes to you. Keep us up to date with your recuperation.

Hi Rhonda and Amelia,
Thanks for the tips! I have always been a big walker, not so much the exercise girl, but I love to walk. Now I do it while pushing a double stroller and a baby pack on the front of me. The kids are so easy, Givanni just turned 2 last month and he loves to be a helper. The babies are not mobile yet at 2 months and 3 months so they are super simple, eat, change, sleep. I am blessed that I have a housekeeper fulltime so I dont have to do any cleaning, laundry or anything else but play with babies.
