Default My journey

My other thread is so old, I think I'll make a new thread for my stuff.

I ordered samples from vitalady.com and with 6 samples and shipping it was like $30 the sucky thing is that according to vitalady customs only allows 2 lbs of protein powder shipped at a time. the shipping charges would kill me ordering it every couple weeks I did manage to get some whey protein isolate from the healthfood store for $25 for the tub. I just hope I like it cause it looks like my only option.

Then I went to Celebrate.. no free shipping for worldwide orders *sigh*

1 Multivitamin Chewable (Mandarin Orange) - 90 Day
- Recurring: No($0.00) $36.50
1 Calcium PLUS Chewable (Hot Cocoa) - 90 Day
- Recurring: No($0.00) $32.75
1 Iron+C 30 mg Chewable (Grape) - 90 Day
- Recurring: No($0.00) $23.95
1 B-12 Sublingual (Cherry) - 90 Day
- Recurring: No($0.00) $15.95
1 Vitamin D3 (1000 IU) - 90 Day
- Recurring: No($0.00) $7.95

SubTotal: $117.10
UPS (1 x 79ozs) (Worldwide Expedited): $102.03
Total: $219.13

$100 bucks for shipping? You gotta be kidding me That stuff cannot possibly be more than $30 or so to ship. Grrr.

It really sucks. We went looking today and only found:

600IU Vit D3, 30 day supply - $27
Calcium Citrate - 20 day supply, $31 (Edit $75.. figuring in 2000mg per day which is recommended)
Gross Iron - $12

Couldn't find a decent multi or b12 sublingual.
The lady at the healthfood store had a multi that might work. I'm gonna compare it to Celebrate multis and see the difference. It's the strongest she's got.. looks like around 300% daily recommendation for most things. So.. 1 and a half pills a day? But they're $30 for 60 pills.

So with shipping 1 months supply of all from Celebrate is $73.
Piecing together things here from the health store is $115, not counting b12 if I can find it.

This sucks. I'm moving back to America. Screw this. :/

Do you guys think $73/mo for all my vitamins is too much? Plus the protein powder and that's $100/mo. Is that outrageous or close to what you guys are dishin out?

Okay I decided to take the stuff back to the health food store and get the stuff from Celebrate when I get back from the hospital. A 6 month supply at a time, with shipping costs is only $320, so that's not too bad considering I know I'll be getting what I need.

I hate that I don't have a preop diet.
I hate that I don't have a bowel prep.

The only thing I have is a couple pills for stomach acid suppresion. I feel like I should be doing something important today, but they didn't give me an assignment except not to eat or drink anything after midnight.

I took it upon myself to just eat salad and protein drinks the last few days tho. Thanks to Mistymee for that suggestion.

I guess I just feel kinda like a fraud. For me this is 100% about getting the lapband out and getting rid of all this pain. The RNY is just not something I'm excited about or looking forward to. I'm just so tired, and I know the RNY is so much work. Maybe I'll feel differently after I embrace all the pain being gone and then get to enjoy the RNY process and the weightloss, but that part of it just isn't important to me right now I guess. Makes me feel guilty to be more concered about the pain instead of the fat, but.. I can't find words. Nevermind.

24 hours from now I should be laying in the recovery room. I'm ready.

Sweetie, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't have to do a bowel prep either. I did get some diarrhea a few days post op so maybe just be prepared for that happening but don't fret over it either way.. not everyone gets that.

I've got my figners crossed for you honey, that you'll see an immediate reduction in the pain you're been dealing with all these months long.

{{hugs}}

Josephine, that's similar to what I pay. Actually, right now I pay about $50 a month for the Celebrate ENS, and I was paying $25 a month for the B12 patch, but I just found a new company that sells them for only half that price. But that right there was $75. Plus whatever I paid for shipping. Like, another $15 or something? And then I take D3 and a B complex, but those aren't very much. And then there's protein powder. Yes, this crap is expensive! I wish it wasn't, but it has to be done. I wish I could do the chewable multis and calcium because they are a lot cheaper than the ENS, but I just can't tolerate them. Oh, and I was recently informed that I do need to do extra calcium because there really isn't enough in the ENS. So I need to buy that too. Argh!

I hope you like the protein from the health food store. Visit theworldaccordingtoeggface and look at her protein shake recipes. You might not love it just mixed with milk or water or whatever, but I bet you can doctor it up and make it taste OK. There are a couple of brands that have flavors that I like OK just made with milk, but mostly I use vanilla and then add stuff to it. Mix it up in the blender and it will dissolve better. I some once that said it would dissolve if you just stirred it, but it didn't. There were little lumps in my drink. Gross! I ended up throwing it out. Add a couple of ice cubes and make it like a shake.

I didn't have to do a bowel prep either. I don't think you need one. Be glad you don't have to do it, I don't think they are that pleasant.

Good luck to you tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. How long will you be in the hospital, do you know?

Kelly

Thanks for all your advice ladies. Dunno how long I'll be in the hospital til he gets in there and sees what all is going on.

By the way, the reason I decided to go with the celebrate stuff was that the only calcium citrate I found was 10 big horse pills a day. Around $75 a month, just for that one thing for 2000mg. Impossible.

Yes Ashley has my number. She'll call when she wakes up and keep you guys updated, but it's a holiday for her so she might be snoozin' for a bit.

I have no problem with giving it to (almost) anyone that wants to check in.
Ashley if you read this, you can give my number to our people that are able to call.. Jobu, Mistymee, Kimber, Jersey, Cassie, no problem. It's a prepaid cell with 20 euros on it, so it's best if international texts aren't going back and forth too much. But don't worry, my boyfriend Rob speaks very good English. He's been with me for 10 years so he kinda has a bit of an Arkansas accent I think. Hehe..

We leave the house at 1:30 am EST. Check in at the front desk 3am EST.
Surgery should be sometime in the afternoon (6am EST - 10am EST).

That's all I know so far. OMG, 5 hours til I crawl in bed and try to get some sleep! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Well, do try and get some rest before you go in for surgery. I know it will be hard to sleep, though, huh? And you know the drill- walk, sip, rest, repeat.
