They have been very sick this past week (which happened to be my first week home from surgery), and they have no clue why mommy isn't picking them up to cuddle them. I have to have someone else place them on my lap. It is so hard to see them crying in their bed, and all I can do is look at them until someone comes to my rescue to pick them up... it absolutely breaks my heart. It does'nt help that my DH works swing, so he is not home in the evenings... his parents are staying with us right now, so they have been helpful. But my dtrs don't want grandma... they want me, and I can't give them all of me
I know that's tough! I had hand surgery when my baby was 7 months old and I couldn't hold her very well!! Plus my 2 year old wanted to be picked up and I couldn't for a bit. So I would sit down and someone would have to hand them to me. I felt so useless! But remember, this will pass soon and be a distant memory for you. You will be back to picking up babies in no time! Hope all is going well with the surgery!

OK... I'm a week and a half after surgery... I officially proclaim that this liquid diet SUCKS! *sigh* But I chose to heal properly and follow my doc's orders for the 4 week liquid protein diet. It's not that I'm hungry, I just want to bite into something delicious, something tangible, with sustenance... not just drink my day away. O-well... 2 1/2 more weeks of this, then on to purees - Yum!

Have you tried sugar free popsicles yet? Sometimes being able to bite into them has helped me.

These have been my saving grace, even though they make my teeth hurt because they're cold.

I love sugar free popsicles. My mom got hooked on them after her surgery and she said it really helped her when she wanted to "eat" something.

Wow, 4 weeks is brutal! I only had to do it for 2 then puree (which wasn't so great either). I lived on popsicles. I like the Edy's sugar free juice bars. Yummy.

Chewing makes the pain worth it. lol How sad is that? I told hubby I've decided we're always keeping a box of them in the freezer for the rest of our lives. He just looked at me like I was nuts. Why do I think it's sad? SF Popsicles are basically replacing "comfort food." So I'm not quite sure how good they are to have all the time, for me at least.

Default Head Trip!

Ok, so I am under the realization that I have been totally warped by all the diets I have done: high protein/low carb/low calorie. I take a look at my "allowed" food list and I think... I get to eat that? AWESOME!!! hahaha. I am so thrilled that I get to eat real food, real veggies (really cooked for now), and even some fruit! FRUIT!! I GET TO HAVE FRUIT!!! I get to make good food choices and my band helps me with portion...

My other warped sense... if I'm full, surely I have eaten too much... because pre-banding, then only way to feel full was to over-eat. Then I think... no, I have only eaten 3 oz of food - I HAVE NOT OVER EATEN

Amazing! Now I just need to wrap my head around this. It's pretty awesome!
