You go girl! I'm on my 2 protein shakes and 1 sensible meal plan now. I started it a few days early too just to be prepared. It's not easy!! But I have more resolve to stick to it than I ever have. I just think of Kel and that liver cracking in half and it keeps me honest! I don't want to sabotage my own surgery! BTW, thanks Kel for sharing your story, it really has been a good thing for me to hear and has kept me on the straight and narrow lately!
My surgery is 2 weeks from today! 9/24/09 at 1015am!!

Hi Mishi. It's funny, when I saw the title of this thread, I was thinking: hey, she read my mind! That's what I've called my journey, my metamorphosis, although I've never posted it here. Then when I read your first post, I realized it could have written it myself: thin family, I'm the only fat one, roller coaster diets, etc.
I've finally transformed to that butterfly. I haven't been this thin since high school (I'm 53 now) and have gone from a size 22 to a size 8. I am truly amazed. I never thought this was a possibility for me. I thought I was destined to be lugging around an extra 100 pounds until I die. This transformation has given me a totally new outlook on life and I'm loving it.
I'm glad you only have one week to go. Soon you will be on the losers bench like the rest of us and have a new life to look forward to you. I wish you all the best.

Vicki - Thank you so much. You have no idea what that means to me, or maybe now you do because I've just said so I am so looking forward to being on that loosers bench with you, transforming myself into that beautiful butterfly I know is in here!!!
Rae - Oh man, I couldn't agree more, that's exactly why I am being good. I don't want my surgeon having an extra greasy slippery liver to deal with. I don't want any complications!
WOO~HOO for our upcomming surgeries

Mishi, my hubby forgets I'm on liquids, too. Just today he came home for lunch, made himself a sammich, and I was rolling my eyes trying to tell myself it would make me sick if I ate it just so I wouldn't be tempted... but I cracked. "That smells really, really good." "There's more in the fridge!" I stuck my finger on his sandwich and licked the flavor of chicken salad off my finger, with maybe a teensy bit of mayo (and I hate mayo). It's better than taking a bite.
It's hard having a kid and a hubby who need to eat, and eat real food, while you're sitting there with your *expletive* protein drink and *expletive* sugar free jello...
Hubby said to me that I've been telling him everything smells good. "Yep, and if I could, I'd eat fried shoe leather right about now, with some ranch."
BUT - I also would like to have the liver just a wee bit smaller before surgery, too. I can't believe it's already the 10th!!

LOL - mmm - fried shoe leather - LOL
So, almost all of yesterday I had dreadful reflux, followed by a bout of throwing up... made for a not so pleasant Sunday afternoon. Especially with my 1-yr-old and 3-yr-old climbing over me while my DH was taking a picture (it was cute, they were having a great time and laughing). Though when I was kotowed at the porcelain god, my darling 3-yr-old was rubbing my back asking "are you ok?" So cute... then I would wretch. Ah the memories we make with our family - LOL . The entire afternoon I couldn't keep anything down, and the thought of one more protein drink at that time just wasn't gonna cut it... nothing was. By the end of the night I could keep some gatorade down and a couple of saltines... I didn't care if the saltines weren't liquid, I needed to feel better. Today I feel about 90% better, and back to my, mmm yummy, liquids. Work today and tomorrow, then I am off. Pre-surgery stuff on Wed in a town 3 hours away, then a 6 am check-in on Thursday. The final countdown... 3...

Sorry to hear you were feeling yucky. We've had a stomach bug around here too but I've managed to miss it (typing while I knock on wood!). You are so close!! I'm sure you are a ball of nerves but deep breaths girl! You are almost on the losing bench!

Sorry you were not feeling well yesterday. I hope you get to that 100% mark soon. Good luck with your surgery.

I'm glad you're feeling better today. I've been getting sick from the sweetness of my protein (Syntrax Nectar, Lemonade - Caribbean Cooler - Strawberry Kiwi), so I finally found my perfect mixture... half a scoop of the flavor and the rest in unflavored. I hope I don't end up lactose intolerant post-op. They all taste much better in skim milk, and hey! The skim milk tastes better with them in it!!
Sounds like a cute pic was taken with the kiddos. Include it in your pre-op stuff! I love how sweet and cute kids are at that young age. My son is talking about how he wants to go to the doctor to make his tummy feel better, and he's saying that my tummy is broken so I need to go get it fixed.
I found it hard when I cook for my family to not lick the food off my fingers. I made a creamy cheese sauce (with real cream and real cheese) last night and mixed it with some noodles, chicken and broccoli to get my son to eat something instead of JUST broccoli. It's been hard for him to eat right because I'm not sitting down eating the same thing with him anymore (yet). But... Yeah, I had cheese on my fingers. In my mouth it went. Habit.
Edit to add:
I forgot an entire paragraph! (Not that I type a lot)
I can't believe it's getting SO close! It's already the 14th?! Where is September going?! Are you excited?

I know - Time is FLYING BY! . Awe, we do get to go fix our broken tummies, I love how kids talk! I have a hard time getting my oldest to eat for the same reason, I'm not sitting down with her, fortunately I know at her daycare she gets plenty of food and eats really well there. When she gets home for dinner, I'm happy if she eats cereal and a banana (breakfast for dinner... the best!) She even likes tuna fish.
I agree, my syntrax is starting to get very sweet, I love the idea of mixing it half with the unflav. stuff - good thoughts, thanks!
BLTs (bites-licks-tastes) are the hardest things to not do. On the positive side... it was cheese
Ok... 2 more days!!!!!! WOO~HOO!!! and I'm back to feeling 100%, just in time for surgery

The only problem with the unflavored is that one scoop is only 10g of protein. So I've been adding a bit to my soup and drinking an extra, smaller "shake" during the day, whenever I seem to find time to do so and remember -- otherwise it waits til "dessert."
Kids really are too cute. Has your eldest always been a non-eater eater for dinner? I seem to have an easy time getting my son to eat breakfast for dinner, too.
And holy cow. TWO DAYS?! I'm SO excited for you!!! Still!! And again!!
