Default Copper/ anemia

Anyone having trouble with iron defficency?

I suffered for several years and then found out I was actually copper deficient.

Please have your copper checked. Mine was low and dropping , even with supplementation, however, I continued to take 2 copper pills a day (with food) and Liquid Life Multi vitamin, my copper and my iron have finally raised. I have not received an infusion since last October and my Iron and copper levels are normal.

It took about 6 months or more, but it worked!!

I feel great for the first time in a long time.

Rain

Rain,
Thank you so much for bringing this topic forward for discussion. Glad to hear that the changes you'd made have improved your numbers.

I'll be making sure that I have my copper checked on my next set of labs!

I'm going to tag this thread with anemia and iron but I can only add two tags. If you think of another that someone might do a search on, please add that one as well. As the original poster, you can add up to 5 different tags. Maybe 'supplement' and 'lab work' and 'copper'? (Not sure if there should be others added to this for search functionality.)

Ditto Rain...I'll add that to my list when I go back and refine lab work needed from here on out.

I'm curious if ANYONE has a surgeon, or even a PCP, who knows ALL the tests a post-bypass patient must have. I doubt it. But I damn sure wish I had that doc on MY team!

Misty...I've been tagging threads whenever I see your request in your post. So keep those coming and if I see them I'll tag. I've been doing others here and there too. Hoping it can help make the forum even MORE useful to the members!

Apart from Celebrate multivitamins etc., everything else I buy pretty much comes from vitacost: Buy Discount Vitamins, Supplements, Low Carb and More at www.Vitacost.com

With a one of shipping fee, you can max it out with protein drinks. Great source for dry form vitamin D3 etc. too.

Puritan's Pride is also worth looking at as well. Discount Vitamins & Herbal Supplements from Puritan's Pride They have some good offers with the buy 1, get 2 free.

Go for tablet or capsule form rather than gel caps of anything.

thanks, Corrine. I get my vit d3 from vitacost, so will look there for the copper. Just for anyone who is curious; I tried the liquid calcium, cause once I take all the supplements per day, I'm so full I have no appetite...the calcium is HORRIBLE. It's glumpy, lumpy, chalky, and nasty, even when you shake the dickens out of it. Ick!

I use this stuff called Upcal D. It's 500 mg of calcium citrate plus some vitamin D3. It's a powder and you can add it to any drink. It has no flavor at all. I love it.
