So last night I couldn't sleep. That head ache that I woke up with was still kickin my butt. So, I decided to go through the kitchen and clean it out. I am very ashamed to say it was pretty nasty going through the cans and stuff. I had a jar of preserves that had a date of 2000. Somehow I had managed to move those things from Okinawa and all over the US.

I cleaned out a whole cabinet that will be just mine. I've got all my samples, shaker cups, scale, vits, and food in there. Yes, I put a HUGE sign on it saying it was mine and for hubbybubby and the kiddo to keep their paws out of it. I know it's going to be awhile before I get on foods so I'm not buying to much of those right now but, I am picking up sample packets of protein when I find them.

I'm getting my list for the hospital in order now. I see how Laura (Offstring) ended up taking so much stuff . But, I went ahead and packed an over night bag with a tooth brush, tooth paste, deoderant, socks, slippers, a light robe, a hair tie, lotion, and chap stick. The only thing I need to toss in on the 20th will be my glasses if I decide to take em. Oh and my I-pod. NEED my tunes ya know.

23 days and counting. I think I'm going to lose the little mind I have before I get there.

I was in the hospital 5 days. I didn't need nor want *any* of those things- no, not even the toothbrush and toothpaste. I wasn't eating anything, I had no strength nor any energy whatsoever. I used the small brush and paste provided by the hospital.

The only thing I had that I used were my earplugs. I had to send hubby (well, he wasn't hubby then but he is now ) to buy me some burt's bees lip balm and the only thing I wished I had was an eye mask to block out the lights when the nurses would come in and flip the lights to check vitals. I ended up using a washcloth. I was leaking (or exploding, depending on my movements) fluids all over the place, covering the hospital garments so I was glad I didn't have my own clothes on.

I left my ipod at home, as I didn't trust that it would be there when I woke up, otherwise. Brigham & Woman's had free wi-fi but I didn't have the energy to get online AT ALL.

When I had surgery, they gave me a basket of goodies that had shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbursh, baby powder, and lotion. Leave the bathrobe at home, you'll have an IV the entire time you're in so I'm not sure if that will be the easiest thing for you to put on. I brought mine and didn't even use it. They gave me Hospital socks with tread on them. I'm really looking foward to your new journey.

Awwwwwww two of my favorite girlies Just love you two to pieces I do.

I thought about just takin myself to the hospital but, I have such sensitive skin that I'm afraid of having a reaction there. I've gone through that before and never want to go there again.

I think I am just trying to find things to keep myself busy ya know. I'm getting super excited and antsy. I'm even driving myself nutty. My boss was laughing at me yesterday coz I took a level to all the pictures in the office and a ruler to all of the binders. I even re-did the spines and letters in them so everything is perfectly lined up and all pages are punched in the exact same place. Yep, gonna be in the nut house before surgery…lol

For the first time in almost 10 years I am looking forward to August.

The first week of August is always rough on me. Between me, mom, grandma, grandpa, great grandma, great grandpa, and my sweet lil boy we have just about every day taken with birthdays. But, now it's just me and that's really painful ya know. I'm still angry and bitter over mom (she was only 52) and my lil Chance whom became an angel at 25 weeks.

Anyway, I am finally having my surgery in 20 days I go and pick up my liquid diet boxes from the pharm. tomorrow and away I go. Hubby bubby looked at me last night and asked if I was getting excited. I said kinda/sorta. I am filling up the days with stuff to do so I don't bounce off the walls.

While hubby was off playing poker I wrote up his "directions" listing. Bless his heart he said that he'd do a liquid dinner with me (he'll eat a good meal at work for lunch that way I don't have to think about the food). He's got the breakdown of the vits, water, and shakes. I have my binders on my desk and have shown them to him. He's even checking em out as well as giggling at "WLS for dummies".

Yes, I'm getting excited. I figure the days before I'll be bouncing around like one of those crazy balls from the gum machine.

so the countdown begins! I was working like crazy at work the last few weeks before my surgery as we were in the middle of an audit, but at home, I was running around like a headless chicken, LOL.

I spent the sat/sun/mon prior to my surgery cleaning the house so that I would come home to a neat & clean place.

G drove from VT to MA that monday night and he stayed at my place for the week I was in the hospital and the place was a wreck by the time I got home, LOL- MEN!

He stayed that second week at home with me before he left back for VT and it took me the next six weeks to get the place back to some sort of normalcy

Charlie,

So sorry to hear that your are rgoing though a rough time with all the memories. It is good that you are having something to look forward to...to help you pass the time. It will be here before you know it. Isn't it great to have a supportive husband. My husband has really been wonderful through this whole thing and continues to be so. My three boys 19, 17, and 14 have been pretty supportive too for teenage boys anyway. (LOL)

You will be so glad you did this. It has only been 10 days for me as of today and I would do it again in a heartbeat even with the few little complications I had. It is going to be well worth it.

Can't wait to have you on the loser's side with us. And the countdown is ON!

Charlie - the last few weeks before surgery can be the most stressful and most exciting.

I agree about the bathrobe and slippers. I took mine and didn't get ANY use out of them. Also, I brought my laptop but I was too doped up for most of the time to use it. They let me go the day after surgery and I realized that I brought WAY too much stuff.

However, the drugs were very good even though the morphine made me nauseous.

Don't be afraid to use your vicodin after surgery...I know lots of people who don't want to become "addicted" but end up in pain. There's no need for that.

One thing I wish I had done was lose more weight before surgery. I would have been that much further along...

Good luck and I'll be thinking of you on "your day."

I just wanted to congratulate you- you are almost there! Also, I took my robe, Slippers, laptop and lots of reading materials.... I used NONE of it. Not even chapstick. I slept pretty much from the time I came to the room to the time I went home. Of course, I got up to walk and pee, but it hardly even registered when they took my vitals, etc. And all that sleepiness was with NO pain killers. Just the aftereffects of Anesthesia. So pack very lightly!

Good luck and I can't wait to see how you do!
