Oh, thanks for the tip on the Orange-ade and lemonade. Sounds great! I'm excited to see how you will do with the different foods, how they will taste, etc. I think the hardest thing for me is the morning cup of coffee.
You'll be through those books quickly I'm sure! Enjoy!

Soft Foods.
Okay, so today was a full day. Sort of. Haha.
I started on soft foods today, and started out with a scrambled egg. I didn't even finish it and it was probably one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had. It felt like I had dumped cement over the top of a huge gas bubble in my stomach, I kept trying to burp and nothing wanted to come out except the food! I didn't actually vomit or regurg, but oh my GOD it was painful and soooo not a fun thing. Totally not worth it. So I waited and hour and back to liquids I went!
I had my 2 week post-op visit today, and I've lost 19lbs in 15 days. YAY! I just hope I can keep it up! Doc wants me to lose 75lbs by the end of 90 days. Eeek! But I want to do it, I want to make that goal so badly. Otherwise, no complaints, no complications, no heartburn, no issues with my incision sites... he said he doesn't need to see me again for a couple of months!!
And then I went to his seminar/support group. I love the group of people who come to these meetings, they are so open and supportive of each other. There were a lot of folks there tonight, and most of them had also had the VSG. Many of them were from 8-10 months out and had lost in excess of 100-130 lbs each! Holy crap! So I am totally excited. I am imagining what I could look like by Christmas, as I'd love to be 100+ lbs down by then. It is a lofty goal, but I'm up for the challenge I think!
And lastly, I was bad. It has been a very stressful week and I shared that I have wanted to stress eat. Well, I have had my eye on the lonely package of Top Ramen for awhile, and decided I would have some for dinner. I did successfully eat a small meal of yogurt earlier, with no pain or discomfort. So I broke the noodles into little squares and cooked one with some water in the microwave. It was heavenly, went down well with a lot of chewing and did not give me any discomfort. Yay. I know carbs are a no-no, and I do NOT intend to make it a regular habit. But it was good. I just hope this isn't the start of a slippery slope.
Anyways, I feel good. Looking forward to really amping up the exercise as I've hit that 2 week mark. I might even make it into the gym, as we've been having HOT days here and its not comfortable enough to walk until 10pm!
Alrighty, I'm off to update my siggy weight- then to bed!!

I'm sorry you've been having a hard time with the evil accident. Did you get your back looked at? Is everything okay? Or did I just miss something?
I started reading your story last night and then finished catching up this morning/afternoon as I procrastinate my homework that is due in six hours. However, I intend to follow your story closely, as I'm also going to be having the sleeve done.
Congratulations on your weight loss so far!

Pasta and Totaled Cars...
I'm proud of myself. I have not had anymore of the ramen noodles. There they are on the counter, but each day I step on the scale and it is still going down- I just am not craving the noodles. Or anything else, really. Wait, I take that back. I am craving my goal weight. I am craving the time when I can comfortably "treat" myself to naughty things and just not worry about it. Have I mentioned how impatient of a person I am?!
Gooberific- first, I love your name! Goober is such a fun word! And no, I didn't have my back checked. I probably should in general, as I have problems from an old injury when I was 17. But when I woke up on Tuesday morning, my back was fine. So I'm not technically injured from the accident, so I let it go.
Today the appraiser from my insurance company came out to take pictures of my poor car. He told me 1- it most likely WILL be found the other driver's fault, and 2- my car will be a total. It is OLD. At least by today's standards in America. I drive a 94 Acura Integra with over 130k miles on it.... there is no way they will pay for repairs. So we will probably have to decide to either get me a new car, or salvage and repair this one. Not looking forward to that decision, as I am still unemployed and we do NOT have the money for a new car set aside. With the fact that I just went 15k into debt for surgery, the LAST thing we want to do is finance a car for me.
So. Last little tidbit here is... I am taking it really easy on the soft foods. Having thicker soups and yogurt is where I'm at, and I DO fill up WAY faster on those. But I'm sticking mostly with my liquids- it's working and it's so much easier than figuring out the soft foods for now. AND, really lastly here- my scale is wrong! I'm not sure how long I will last with an incorrect scale in this process. On Weds when I weighed myself at home before going to my appt, I was about 3-4 lbs heavier on my home scale than the doctor's. And no- it's not their scale as this is the 2nd dr's office it has happened in. I'm trying not to obsess over the numbers, because at least when I step on it it is going down... but it would be nice to know where exactly I'm at so I can claim my due rewards on time!!
Have a great day!

wow, tough call on the car, but I'm glad to hear that you are ok.
I've noticed that quite a few people here have mentioned that as they lose weight their balance is skewed. It does merit a visit or two to the chiro, which you may find useful once you've lost a significant amount of weight (I'm thinking you'll notice it around 40 - 50 lbs lost, but it might be sooner).
I was seeing mine regularly, but she pissed me off so I need to find a new one.
Anyway, I'm back. Glad to see you are doing so well and are tolerating your post-op well.
YEA!
Isn't this weather we are having wonderful? I'm loving it. Not too hot and not too cold...

Not too hot?! Are you kidding me? Maybe if I lived in the city like you I could second your sentiments on the weather- but here at my house it has been up near 100 every day this week. I've been MISERABLE!!! Maybe I need a visit to a) the beach or b) the city.
Thanks for the tip on the chiro. I think as I lose more weight I will def want to go in and see one. As I mentioned, I hurt my back BADLY when I was 17 in my first car accident (it involved black-ice, driving over an embankment, hitting a tree and rolling, all without a seatbelt on) and had to see a chiro for a long time. It still bothers me now and then, but I blame most of that on my weight. So I'm hoping to be feeling that much better as I get lighter, and maybe I'll be ok with some minor adjustments? I'm interested to see how my balance is affected.
I'm really focused on getting below the 230lb mark. That is what I got down to on the HMR liquid diet (that I cheated on, hardcore. lol) and I feel like I won't be super duper uber excited until I get below that. But I tried on a pair of size 16 pants last night, and they fit. Not well, definitely too tight to wear out, but they buttoned and everything without having to try hard. My size 20 pants I've been wearing won't stay on my butt/hips anymore, but my belt won't fit yet. So maybe it's time to track down some 18's. yay!

lol - after I wrote that, I realized that it might be hotter where you are. My grandma is from San Jose. But I'm not sure where - I just know it was pretty hot there.
you are so lucky that you're already able to get into a 16! I carry a lot of my weight in my hips and belly (and butt) so I'm lucky to get into a 20. I could probably S-Q-U-E-E-Z-E into an 18, depending on the sizing, but I don't think a 16 in in the cards for me for a while.
Oh well, we're all different.
I know you'll get there really fast. One of the guys at the SF support group said "the first 30 lbs are free - after that you have to work for them."
Enjoy it - it's such a great time to start to mend your habits!!!
And you should get up to the city... it's so lovely here. Actually, we should get together. Are you on FB?

Suzanne,
Yes, we are all very different! I've noticed that on a lot of women who are the same height and weight as me, I tend to be a smaller size/look smaller. I just carry my weight very well proportioned over my whole body. which is good and bad, but I'm ok with it. I DO love my body, despite the fat it carries so easily. /
Yes, we should get together sometime! I am on FB, but for now I've decided not to add anyone from here on TT, just because I have kept my surgery and weight loss efforts VERY personal. About 4 people total know about it. But when I decide to get over myself, I will definitely add you!! Nothing personal, I swear!
So after reading sooo many people's raves about Greek yogurt, I finally broke down and bought some. I hope no one eats it without adding flavor- because it tastes like super thick sour cream!! Haha! But, I added some crystal light powder for flavor and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the texture! I'm one of those weird people who also loves the "skin" on jello and pudding, so I guess I WOULD like the greek yogurt. Plus it has SO MUCH protein! yowzas!
And on that note, I'm holding pretty steady at 270lbs. It has been very very hot and I have been having a VERY hard time staying hydrated. So that has been my focus. Plus, it is a lot of work, figuring out your protein, etc when you start on the soft foods. Sheesh, the math with the protein drinks was so easy!
Today, I think we are taking the dogs to the beach. And ourselves, really. Hopefully I'll have some pics to post after today.

Sorry- Justme09... no pics of me. Just the puppies.
My surgery anniversary is the 30th. If there is enough 1-month change I will post pics, but I'm doubting it even now. I'll let ya know. Damn, its hot. It was in the 60's in Carmel, but we just got home and its 95+. YUCK! Off to take a nap in our only air-conditioned room....
