Oh yeah, I remember that form. I was telling my friend about it - she had some babies and had to sign similar documents. It's like they have to cover EVERYTHING and scare the crap out of you. I don't even remember any of the things on there.

Just so you know, I've had zero complications. No infections, no strictures, no vitamin deficiencies. When I came out of surgry, Dr. J told my fiancee that everything went perfectly, but revealed to me later that my liver was fatty. Like room temperature butter, he said. It did crack a little, but he glued it back together.

I know that I was lucky (from reading on here - there are many dangers, including fatty livers and cracked livers). But they are both excellent surgeons. I worried a lot and then about two weeks before I just calmed down. Then my fiancee started freaking out.

Interesting that you quit your job...but anything that makes you too anxious isn't good. When do you think you'll go back to work again? If you can afford to, I would take my time. It's cool. Chillax...

I don't think you are feeling anything we all haven't felt at one time or another. That's why I joined here ... it was like seeing the light dawn ... I'm not as alone as I thought I was for so long. Other people have gone through this and are going through the same things I am. It has helped so very much.

I wish you all the best

Default Busy Busy

Thank you Suzanne and Crimson Kittie- thats exactly how I felt too!

Well, it's been a very busy week here in Cali. I made a list last weekend of all the crazy projects that NEEDED to be finished before my surgery, and I've been knocking them off the list one by one. I've been raking, pick-axing huge plants and weeds, cutting down trees to make room for new ones, planting said new trees, hauling gravel, stacking firewood, moving boxes, etc, etc, etc... Tonight I got to finish hanging up some fun decorative porch lights that have been sitting and calling my name for weeks! The dogs have been getting lots of time to sun-bathe and play in the yard and I've been sweating buckets! I am still having a very hard time trying to lose this 10lbs my surgeon suggested I lose. I'm a little worried about it.... But I haven't gained so that's good, right?

I'm not sure that there's much else to report. I will say I am looking forward very much to being able to move around, bend over, weed my garden and plant my plants without having to hitch up my pants or pull down my shirt all the time.... UUGGGH! So sick of all these rolls that get in my way!

On a side note (& a very personal one at that) I switched my birth control from a low-dose pill to the Depo shot at the end of May. This was 2-fold. First, to be certain and avoid all pregnancies due to a missed/late pill, and Secondly, to avoid any extra risk of blood clots after surgery. I was on the Depo shot for about 5-6 years and I loved it- no periods, no bloating, no PMS EVER!! The bad news now that I have switched back to it is that, well.... I have NO libido. None. I must say my other half is not impressed. But here is the other conundrum- My Surgeon says I can go back on the pill after surgery, so I could start it again the first of September (Depo lasts 3 months). However, they also say to absolutely avoid pregnancy until you are close to or at goal, and that your fertility can go way up after the major weight loss.... So I am a little scared to go back to the pill because I am kind of a bad pill taker. I'm often several hours late taking it (or a day...). Hmmm... But having no libido is no fun either. Who in their right mind Doesn't Want to Want it? Or wants to not want it?? lol.
Anyways, any advice? Anyone else had to face a similar choice, or on Depo, etc?

Happy Father's Day to all the Daddies out there....

I agree with Dawnelle, wait to see the level of energy and positive attitude that you'll have after surgery. That libido will probably be back 10-fold!!!

I've enjoyed reading your blog :-) I wish you the best of luck on Tuesday and look forward to hearing more about your progress

Default The waiting game...

Dawnelle & Jennylynn- Thanks so much for your responses... I hope you are right!

And Dawnelle, congrats on 100 lbs lost, that is so amazing!

So I am officially in the waiting game now. Exactly 1 week from now, I will be Post Op! Still very scary to me, but I am so excited as well. It's just a little strange, thinking this is the last week of my life to have everything intact.... lol. My brain wonders if I will miss being able to eat a lot of food? I know I won't miss all this extra weight when it's gone. But will I miss the ability to pig out? I hope not....

It sure is hard to get outside and be moving in the hot weather, I'm wondering how I will contend with this, also. Yes, I have a gym down the road- but half the time its just as hot in there as it is outside (why do gyms DO that, anyways?!).... Today I am procrastinating, because it is nearly 100 degrees and I have a truckload of wood chips that need to be unloaded. Ugggggh. I hope I like hot weather better as a skinny person. lol. So I am here in the 80 degree house putting it off and blogging instead.

The good news is, I have a ton of easy projects and crafty things and books to read for after surgery, and my bf will be taking most of next week off into the Holiday weekend. I'm thinking I picked an ok time to do this. Still no job on the horizon, but I'm keeping my eyes open for something good and just gonna take it easy. 6 Days Left...

hey RN, I use the Nuva Ring for BC. Actually I'm not using it now because Mr. R and I are not having sex until the wedding (YIKES CAN'T WAIT), but I've been using it for several years. Love it. Very convenient and no side effects that I've been able to note.

I'm so excited for you about next week. Everything will be fine, I know it will.

I just saw Dr. Jossart today. He's really nice. I'm starting to like him. I hope Dr. C grows on you. Dr. J was pretty stand-offish at first, but now he's super cool.

I think it's awesome that you are losing weight before surgery. I really wish I had tried harder instead of being all weird and anxious about it.

XOXOXOX

Default Oh No...

Suzanne- I WISH I was losing weight before surgery. Dr C wants me to, but the scale hasn't budged. I'm holding steady and nervous about facing him DOS with no loss. He is nice, I really like him and I know he's a great surgeon... I've just seen him get "tough" on folks and really want to avoid that.

Nuva-Ring- tried it, hated it. I could FEEL it all the time.... not cool in my book. But thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate it. I think I need to just cool my jets, relax and ride this wave- see where it takes me after surgery and let things happen as they will. Ya know? My man isn't going anywhere because of a little abstinence...... I think it will be fine. AND- I was thinking about it all this morning after he went to work... I think a LOT of my libido problem could also be that I am SO uncomfortable with my body. I feel gross, ya know?

Last year when I lost 40 lbs on HMR, my bf lost almost 90lbs with diet and exercise. He looked DAMN GOOD. Then August hit and some health problems (his) and a lot of craziness later.... he has gained back about 60lbs. When he was at his lighter weight though, I still weighed 70lbs more than he did.... I've always been the heavier one in our relationship (how icky is that!). Anyways, he is now sharing his feelings with me quite often about being "left behind" once I have surgery. He refuses to consider surgery for himself, but is obviously not looking forward to working as hard as he did to previously lose weight either... I'm just hoping that my increase in energy and optimism will jazz him up enough to help him get fit too. We love to be outdoors and hike and backpack and take our dogs fun places and all of that is one of the main reasons I am doing this. I am READY!!

Whew. 5 Days Left.

5 days? Girl I am so excited for you!

I understand that feeling gross, I went through that for many months (okay years) before surgery. (sometimes still do) It will get better. I have also always been heavier than my hubby, not now, but most always before, so I know how that feels.

My libido did return after surgery. That was a great thing that I was very happy about.

You are doing great, and I am moving over to make room for you on the loser bench.
