We're getting married on October 24 - so it sounds like we are pretty close in dates! I'm looking forward to the party and celebrating with my family and friends. We're doing a cocktail party with lots of latino style munchies.

Mr. R and I were just discussing some of the ugly things we've heard brides say - but then I watch a LOT of Bridezillas. hehehehehehehe.

What are your daughter's plans? It is fun to plan, but this pesky working thing gets in the way.

Yes its been fun to plan-- she has her dress and some of the bridesmaid have theirs my other daughter is her maiden of honor but she is due in June so she hasn't gotten her dress yet We went to a bridalo show three weeks ago and ran into a wedding planner which I thought only the rich used and was surprised how affordable they are which took all the stress I was having right away The place my Daughter pick is about 45 min. from the house and I was freaking out how was i going to decorate the hall plus get ready and spend the day with her without being exhausted I was searching for chair covers and sashes and table clothes and table decoration photographers, DJ, and flowers the planner has all that and cheaper then what I was finding and her services are thrown in for free and they will decorate and clean up so all I have to do is purchase the food and get it to my girl friend she going to cater it with my stuff( I cater on the side for fun) and another is going to bar tend for me so most of my work is done she is also going to get married there if you want to look it up its the smithfield center http://www.smithfieldcenter.com on the deck outside she still hasn't pickup her invitation yet her colors are plum and silver
Now has the mother of the bride I have to find a dress but I am waiting to see how thin I get by then-----side note I usually where low cut dress and shirts to divert the eyes away from my fat stomach but I am told as were the brides maids nothing lower then what she has-----I just don't know what color to go with yet so give me some details on your plans and the honeymoon plans

Foxy, I totally agree about October! It is the nicest month here - you can usually count on an Indian Summer and really pleasant weather. And happy upcoming 5 year anniversary!

Ceecee, your daughter's location looks just lovely! So beautiful and green. How many people are you inviting?

My sister in law is going to make my dress from a vintage pattern I found. I think it's the perfect meeting between Jackie Kennedy and Lucy Arnez. It has a basque neck, empire waist and a skirt that flares out at the bottom. It's tea length. I've picked out a fabric I like with a pinkish lace to overlay.

Otherwise, my colors are black and ivory. I thought and thought about what colors I wanted - I'm *really* bad at colors and decorating (outfits I can choose, interior design, not so much), so I debated over that for a while...then I saw a wedding magazine where everything was black and white and I just LOVED it. We might throw in some lavender accents here and there.

I'm letting my maid of honor and bridesmaid pick their own dresses - as long as they are black, it's cool with me. My BM (sister in law) is younger and is going for strapless and short, while my best friend (maid of honor) will get something longer (she hates her knees). I started to try to pick stuff out at David's Bridal and then I saw how much they cost PLUS alterations and some of them you can't even try on because they have to be special ordered (and thus paid for in advance). I figured it wasn't worth it and decided to just let them pick their own stuff.

I do have to pick dresses for my 3 nieces - all of whom I have promised will be in the wedding. They are 12 and two 9s. We went to Alfred Angelo to see some flower girl dresses, but they were also very expensive. I don't want to make anyone get anything they'll only wear once AND costs a lot. Plus, I wasn't very happy with the sales staff at AA. The 12 year old will be harder to fit. She wants to dress like she's 22, but I'm determined to put her in something that is at least somewhat modest - and maybe make her wear flats since she's already taller that both my bridesmaid and my MOH (she's growing so fast - she better not pass me up before the wedding!).

I'm trying to encourage my mom to get a black or silver suit. She looks best in tailored suits. David's Bridal has a nice one, but I'm not sure she'll go with it - they are pretty comfortable financially, but she doesn't like to spend money on herself!

Mr. R's aunt is doing the flowers - I want to stick with mostly stargazer lillies and tiger lillies. I like cala lillies too, but they are so expensive and I really wanted something a little bigger.

Our caterer is AWESOME! We had a pretty long selection process and she won. I was teetering between her and a local restaurant, and even though she is more expensive, she provides enough services that she is essentially a "day of" coordinator. My cousin hired a wedding coordinator, but they are SO EXPENSIVE here! At least $3k. For some of them $3k gets you the day of services ONLY! So I figured that I would rely upon my skills that I gathered coordinating events as an Admin Assistant and do my best. That website Wedding Dresses - Wedding Cakes - Wedding Planning - Unique Wedding Ideas - By TheKnot.com helps out a lot.

Wow, this post got really long. Still avoiding work.

But, here is a blessing - my cousins (who live about 2 hours away) have been so supportive and sweet! They are throwing my bridal shower (my maid of honor lives in CT and my bridesmaid lives in San Diego) and just being really supportive and sweet. I love them so much - I really wasn't expecting people to be so kind and generous with their time. I am so grateful! I wish my sister were still alive so I could complain to her (and make her help me!). I know she'll be with us all in spirit, though.

Tell me more about your daughter's plans. And foxy, I want to hear more about your wedding (well, what you remember). The photographers are trying to talk me into the videotaping the wedding, but it seems almost morbid to me. I mean, you don't really watch those things unless you're wanting to see someone who died. After my sister died her husband watched the wedding video over and over.

How many attendants? Colors? Invitations? Music? She's so lucky that you are doing the cooking!!! Catering is our biggest cost!!!

I love weddings. We had so much fun at ours.

Gosh I do not know where to start. I didn't hire any coordinator, I did most of all of it myself, hubby did help and I did get friends to do things also. But I planned most of all of it out. Our colors were navy and silver. 2 attendants, His Dad was his best man, and his best friend was a groomsman. My sister was my Maid of Honor, and his sister was my brides maid. I got them navy blue strapless dresses from the Alfred Angelo line and spray painted navy blue flip flops to match. We were going to have a beach wedding and it ended up raining that day so the ceremony was indoors but we got some great beach photos.

I used the knot and wedding channel planners and they helped a lot too.

I found our wedding invitations at the paper zone it is a local stationery store. Their sample was in red and we of course wanted navy and they didn't make it in navy. It was a booklet type invite. So hubby and I decided we would hand make our own. WOW what an undertaking, but I am so glad we did, they turned out pretty good. Not 100% as a professional would, but still really good. I will have to see what photos I can dig up and post on my albums so you can take a look.

As far as music, I had all the ceremony music all put onto a CD with specific instructions to the DJ on when and cues before and what to play etc. For the reception I just said, no chicken dance, and no money dance. I do not care what else you play. Of coure the father daughter dance and garter toss etc was all planned.

As I said I was pretty specific, but it turned out awesome.

I will have to post more later, gotta run...

For sure get it video taped. That is the one thing I really wish I would have done. We have tons of pictures, but it would've been cool to have it video taped.

As something fun for our guests I made like a scavenger hunt for them. I set disposable cameras at each table and gave them a list of crazy fun neat things to take photos of as memories for us. I loved getting those done and seeing all the awesome photos. The table that got all theirs done got a prize. We ended up sending something out to all, but still. Many of the guests said that they loved that idea too.

Somewhere on the web there is a wedding forum too where I got TONS of ideas, I will see if I can find that link also.

Gosh I love weddings, I wish I could become a wedding planner, that would be totally cool! See I am getting so excited for your wedding already! LOL Yes I am that much of a goof.

wow - those BOTH sound like a lot of fun. I'm starting to waver on the video thing - lots of people have said "you know, everything goes by so fast you might wish that you had a video of it."

We went to our Engaged Encounter thing y'day. It's the first of two saturdays. It wasn't bad but started to drag at about 11am. The couple who ran it was very nice. I didn't know what to expect - there were so many other couples there. Most of them were younger than us. Nearly of them were wearing jeans (not knowing what to expect, Mr. R and I showed up in work clothes - me in a skirt and he in slacks and a button down shirt). there was one other woman in a dress and one girl in what looked like her pajamas. It would be interesting if we hadn't already discussed nearly everything with BQ priest earlier this year. Because of that it's sort of boring.

The scale hasn't moved much this week, despite the fact that I've been taking Star for a walk or two a week. I need to go back to the gym and get my body moving. I just can't seem to find the motivation. I'm so tired. Work is so busy. I just need to relax.

I found when I'm walking Star if I think "Calm Assertive" she's much less likely to tug on the leash. I think I need to start implementing that in my work conversations. Think "Calm Assertive" and just picture what I want to get done.

I had a shrink several years ago who told me that I needed to "change the tapes" that ran through my mind. I need to change my tapes again. I need to project calm, assured, assertiveness. I need to feel like I am in charge of my life and my work (even though sometimes it feels like it is in charge of me).

Yesterday I walked the stairs in our building. I made it up to the 15th floor (of 22) and my thighs were killing me yesterday! Maybe I can make it to the gym today...hope so!

Back to work and wedding planning...xoxoxox

I made it to the gym! YEA!

I meant to say that I take Star for a walk or two A DAY, not a week. My thighs are still burning from the stairs (and maybe the elliptical), but I'm glad I went. I need to be more disciplined about it.

Yea for Sundays and naps!

Default Bones and I had a video made

It is on a VHS cassette somewhere. I wonder if anything can even read that now? I have no VHS in the whole house.

Im glad we did it, but have only watched it once.
